PFF Rates Flowers #1 NFL CB Through Week 6
... and Reid says scheme fit wasnt the biggest reason he was let go. He did say he was happy to see him doing well and I can agree with that, I never had a problem with Flowers outside of my, apparently somewhat wrong, belief that he was a bad scheme fit.
There isnt much other Chiefs discussion going on, so heres something else to get mad at each other about... http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/po...randon-flowers Last edited by Easy 6; 10-15-2014 at 04:40 PM.. |

The Flowers hate around here was just another reeruned overreaction to throw on the pile.
He's been a top 10 CB since he entered the league. |

And he was always dinged up.. And guess what? He's ruled out for this week I believe. He was awful in our press man and was on a huge contract. Would of loved to keep him as he was one of my favorite players, but it just didn't make sense to

The Kansas City Chiefs are coming to town Sunday, and boy wouldn't Flowers love to be healthy enough to play against his former team. Flowers was released by the Chiefs in June even though he was coming off his first Pro Bowl appearance. The cornerback quickly signed with San Diego and leads the Chargers with two interceptions. He was forced out of Sunday's win at Oakland with a groin injury and didn't practice Wednesday, so his status for Sunday is uncertain. ''I definitely want to play. You'd best believe that if there's any chance I can play, I'll be out there,'' Flowers said. The Chargers (5-1) have won five straight games. Kansas City (2-3) returns from its bye. Flowers gradually lost playing time last season in Kansas City, and his bloated contract helped make him a salary cap casualty. ''I don't want to get into the past and what happened over there in Kansas City,'' he said. ''What's done is done. Love that staff, love the guys over there, love the fans. I have no problem with Kansas City. So I stay away from that.'' Flowers said he was miffed at first, ''because that's all I knew, was being over there. I love where I'm at, winning, love the coaching staff over here.'' As much as Flowers would like to say this is just another big game against a division rival, it's clear it's bigger than that. ''It's going to be more fun,'' Flowers said. ''I laugh when I watch more film because I know those guys' tendencies, I know their movements. It's just fun. Everybody thinks this game is so serious. This is a game that we play and have fun. I know I do. I have fun playing the game on Sunday. It's going to be a lot of fun to be out there.'' Coach Mike McCoy actually cracked and said there's a benefit to having a player like Flowers on the roster when it's time to play his old team. ''At times you'll see something. Coaches have a good idea but if there's a question you'll bounce it off somebody,'' McCoy said. ''I think he's playing good football,'' Kansas City coach Andy Reid said. ''He played good football here; he's playing good football there. He's a good football player. Smart kid and good football player.'' Other Chargers not practicing Wednesday were linebacker Jerry Attaochu (hamstring) and running back Donald Brown, who hasn't been cleared to return after suffering a concussion in a victory against the New York Jets. Running back Ryan Mathews (knee) and linebacker Manti Te'o (fractured foot) remain out indefinitely. Wide receiver Eddie Royal, knocked out of Sunday's victory with a rib injury, was a full participant at practice. |

He's played the following QB's:
Carson Palmer EJ Manuel rookie QB Geno Bust Smith rookie QB He has already been hurt twice this year. Missed the Seahawks game and now this week. He was ranked 75th last year with a hurt knee a lot of last year. It's a mirage. Glad we aren't paying him big money anymore.

I meant that in cumulative terms. If you go back to around 2010, not many CBs have been as good as Flowers. CP just has a huge hard on for harping on guys for shit that 1)they don't even know what the **** they're talking about and 2)doesn't even make sense. "He's too small and slow!" Uhh, then how was he performing like one of the best CBS in the league? |

Maybe not on the tail end of his time here but in 2010 and 2011? There wouldn't have been many better options. |

That's why I go into the berry bashing thread and say "This is why we can't have nice things". Not that we could use a good CB. Cooper is pretty awesome right? Derp. IMO, it was purely a cap move and I can understand that. I guess. It's sure better than the 'well, he's not that good anyway' dumbasses. |

Our overall pass defense is improved from last year when we had Flowers. Could it be even better with him this year instead of Cooper? Most likely except Flowers is hurt, again, and it's not a $10MM upgrade. |

Flowers played like shit last year for the most part. That, along with his high salary and oh look, he has another nagging injury, are the reasons he's gone.
