Clark Hunt: I will hire new coach, He will report to me (Tweets)

Nice Video to watch first: http://www.kcchiefs.com/media-center...5-2637a4f99bcc

Then Clark was on 810AM and pontificated about his approach. I have culled several tweets and condensed them into one thread:

Dave Skretta ‏@APdaveskretta
#Chiefs CEO Clark Hunt says he'd like to have resolution on GM situation by start of February, before scouting combine

Dave Skretta ‏@APdaveskretta
Hunt has "appropriate people lined up" to help in coaching search. Says ideal candidate is proven winner, can build program, high integrity

The Program ‏@theprogramkc
Clark Hunt says they will change the reporting structure and the head coach will report directly to him. And he will make the hire.

TJ Carpenter ‏@TJCarpenterWHB
"Historically the head coach reports to the GM. That structure will change." Clark Hunt. The HC and GM will be on equal footing.

Todd Leabo ‏@Leabonics
Clark Hunt changing structure of #chiefs. He'll hire head coach and that coach will report to him, not to a GM. He'll become more hands on.

The Program ‏@theprogramkc
Hunt wants a proven leader who was part of building a successful program with a high football IQ and will hold team and self accountable.

Bart Hubbuch ‏@HubbuchNYP
Chiefs owner is now saying Scott Pioli — the GM of the team — will be essentially powerless. Why keep him around then?

The Program ‏@theprogramkc
Hunt says the priority is hiring the head coach and that's why he's doing that before evaluating Pioli.

Christopher Hansen ‏@ChrisHansenNFL
Force him to take a buyout? MT @HubbuchNYP: Chiefs owner is now saying Scott Pioli will be essentially powerless. Why keep him around then?

Adam Teicher ‏@adamteicher
Hunt: "It gives us the best chance of hiring the most outstanding coach.''

TJ Carpenter ‏@TJCarpenterWHB
Chemistry is important between HC and GM. Hunt would not say the new HC will have impact on decision to keep Pioli.

The Program ‏@theprogramkc
Hunt says no one gets a passing grade in a season like this and Pioli understands this. Says would have to be chemistry between GM and coach

Jim Trotter ‏@SI_JimTrotter
added to my "no confidence in" list. MT @APdaveskretta: #Chiefs CEO C. Hunt says he'd like to hv resolution on GM situation by start of Feb.

Danny Clinkscale ‏@dcwhb
Clark comes VERY close to saying Pioli is out, at least that's my read on it

frank boal ‏@realfrankboal
Happy New Year Chiefs fans, listening to Clark Hunt on 810WHB, it sounds like Scott Pioli is gone too!! Its just not official.

Albert Breer ‏@AlbertBreer
RT @adamteicher Hunt: "That will really be my role, finding the right path for the Chiefs and helping them make decisions together.''

TJ Carpenter ‏@TJCarpenterWHB
Clark Hunt dances around the idea that keeping Pioli would be massively unpopular. #justwinbaby #chiefs

Dave Skretta ‏@APdaveskretta
Hunt says he wants new coach to report to him, not GM, because "it gives us the best chance of hiring the most outstanding coach" #Chiefs

Doug Stewart ‏@dougstewart1
Sitting here watching Clark Hunt I get much more of an "I'm not taking this crap anymore" feel than I ever have before.

Nick Lamb ‏@NickBLamb
“@dcwhb: Clark comes VERY close to saying Pioli is out, at least that's my read on it” come on Clark. Go all the way with this thing

SaveOurChiefs ‏@SaveOurChiefs
@HubbuchNYP @ChrisHansenNFL $7.5 mill buyout gentlemen

Pioli ****ed up the GM to HC relationship so badly Clark is forced to make a paradigm shift just to make sure it doesn't happen again.

After hearing the interview, I took a step back from the ledge for now. He said he'd like to have it done by Feb so, I'm going to take a wait & see approach until then

He certainly opened the door for the Cowher/Gruden/Reid type of hire. Even Chip Kelly, who would have the #1 pick AND the ability to put his own personnel people together.

OK I'm stepping down from Defcon 5 to Defcon 4 after hearing that.

I think this is all possitive going forward. I feel that Pioli is going be let go by the end of the week. He has no say in anything, no control or power to do anything and has to wait his own fait in the hands of Clark Hunt. I believe Clark Hunt is going make a good HC hire and that Pioli is going be fired.

I didn't get that out of the interview with regards to Chip Kelly. I did on Cowher/Gruden/Reid type of hire, but not Kelly. IIRC, he said something about not giving a college type coaching candidate as much power to make personal decisions.
