one of my credit card companies (capitol one) started calling me with some of their chitty advertisements.

if they can't contact you through your normal account phone number they cancel it until they can verify that you still live there. doesn't matter that you have never had problems or issues ........ or that this contact was started by their sales dept. worthless dung eating..

Which is one of the many reason that Bob Dole has not used a credit card since 1996.

Is that an indication that Bob Dole buys too much shit online? |

Well, they have to find some way to pay for all those fucking commercials. I swear, the only thing that gets advertised more than those credit cards is light beer.
I had a bad experience with Capital One years ago. I was in the middle stage of restoring my credit rating after filing bankruptcy. I hadn't missed any payments in years, and had another credit card with a $7K limit. Capital One wouldn't raise my limit above $300. I got some shitty letter from a corporate pinhead denying my request for an increase. When I tried to get him on the phone, they wouldn't connect me. I canceled right then and there. Definitely their loss, not mine. Capital One will never be in my wallet. |

Yeas ago I had a buddy of mine almost get f**ked by his credit card company. He bought a few thousand dollars of exercise equipment with the card, then paid it off at then end of the month. The next bill comes and the charges are still on there, plus late fees, interrest, etc. So he checks with his bank and sure enough, the check cleared and before the due date for the last bill.
So he calls them up and tells them they've f**ked up. They deny it. He sends them copies of the cancelled check. Their response? "Sir, it's not in our systems so you still have to pay it." He fights his way up their corporate ladder and gets the next answer: "Sir, we can't read our tracking number on the back of that check, so we have no idea where that money went. You'll have to pay it." The f**kers all but admitted they cashed the check but their accountants f**ked up and couldn't find the money. Their solution? He pays them again. He finally sued them and, not suprisingly, won. IIRC he also got his court costs covered, but of course he was still out days of his own time. |

I use American Express for almost everything. Pay it off at the end of the month (no choice), rack up serious points. Completely paid for my rental car on vacation last year.

i like going to a bar with a cancelled credit card and at the end of the night just go well it must be your machine keep it and run it again tomorrow when your machine is fixed. Half the time no one is caring because i will even buy the waitress a drink on the expired card.
