If you had the time to walk across one U.S. state...?
...what state would it be, and why? And would you go north-south or east-west?
Assume that you have some time off and quoting Simon and Garfunkel, you want to walk off and look for America with a handful of Mrs. Wagner's pies. Also assume that you are in your current conditioning. Take into account climate, scenery, wild animal attacks, proximity to McDonald's, and any other relevant criteria. Gotta go with Alaska, in the middle of summer, East or Southeast across the state to West or Southwest and then a boat ride down the West coast...

It'd be more adventurous to do in the middle of winter.

Oddly, it seems like Michigan south to north would be kind of interesting. You'd need a place with enough small towns to get from place to place, and I think it would work. You could also walk along Lake Michigan or Superior a good stretch of the way, and the Upper Pensinsula would be a nice reward at the end.
Florida, North Carolina, and Massachusetts could also be interesting (N-S for FL and W-E for the others).
