Any Art lovers here?

I have a large canvass painting by Richard Dupont, it has number written on the frame and has a stamp on the back of the canvass saying the artist approved reproductions, it also has a brass plate on the bottom of the framing of the canvass with DuPont written on it, it is a signed painting.

My friend says she has heard of him?
It has a piece of paper on the back of the frame saying he is a well known artist of the Eastern United States that is known for his unusual talents of seascape artistery.

We took a pic this morning to send to Cristies of New York, anybody have any ideas on the painting, or the artist? I heard the numbers on the back of the frame meant it once hung in a museum.

I bought it at an estate auction, in San Antonio, the woman who lived in the house had died and she was 93 years old, and her daughter said she remembers it being in their house as long as she can remember.

I saw some four-year old girl whose parents claimed she was an abstract artist, and she has already commanded a lot of money for her works.

But, she was then later exposed as a fraud.

DUPONT, Richard John Munro (1920-1977)

His original paintings bring ~$1,000 a repro one like you have I'd guess $50 - $150.

This is not a reproduction it is an original canvas painting signed by the artist, but he has approved reproductions from this painting.

Art is a funny thing with me. Either I like the picture or I don’t.
I had a few by “Bing Miller” (he lived across the street from my parents place when I was a kid, he was best known in Japan for his work)
And I’m amazed at the detail of Michael Angelo’s work, as I am Deviancies (sp) not that I want to run right out and get some.
Another artist I happen to like is the dude who has a tv show on most PBS stations, I can’t for the life of me remember his name, but he just loves “Vandyke Brown” really soft spoken guy, and is an amazing artist.
Hey, any person who can make a waterfall look good by using a friggen house painting 4 inch brush gotta have talent.

When a lady say's "it matches my furniture" no more reason/excuse is needed!
This I have learned on a first hand basis.

No you are wrong this is what is called a canvas oil transfer. Sort of like spray painted picture. Its decorative only. No collector value on these.

No, a art gallery here in springfield told me it was an original.
I was going to have a history run on it, but the woman wanted 50 bucks an hour
