Well, looks like the same old same old for the Chiefs....
I know, I dont want to overspend for Free Agents, but just once id love for us to be agressive and get some big names in here right away. This lowballing and cheap 2nd tier free agents hasnt won us a Super Bowl in 15 years so you would think that Carl would have tried something different this season??? Sigh......

We have been aggressive and gotten some big names in here.
How can you say you don't want to overspend and then say it sucks when we go cheap. How do you know we have "lowballed" anyone? Trotter was on NFL Network and said nothing to indicate that in anyway. If anything it indicated that we weren't going to OVERSPEND on a LB that has knee problems and has failed once with another team. Don't misunderstand I wanted Trotter the most out of the FA MLB. Again with Rolle all we know for certain is that we didn't offer him a contract that he couldn't refuse which would equate to OVERSPENDing. Bottum line is we are a couple of days into FA and we have looked much more aggressive than in past years.

Last time we overspent for one of the "top" free agents in the market and didn't let him leave, it was for Shawn Barber. The other previous time we overspent for a free agent and didn't let him leave, it was for Johnnie Morton.
So really, overspending for a guy and not letting him leave hasn't really paid off big dividends for us. We need to be smart about the guys we sign this year, not necessarially aggressive. Because it doesn't pay off to be aggressive if the guys you sign don't play up to their worth... |

In the meantime I'm hoping for a successful 2005 so I want Carl to be smart about free agency and sign players who will actually play well. I don't care if we spend $50 million or $5 million to get them, and if they are signed on the first day or 30th day of free agency. True he may be too dumb to do that, but since I'm not the one in a position to hire and fire him, I've gotta sit here and hope that he finally gets it right... |

Why does every single "doom 'n' gloomer" on this BB find it necessary to start their own "the sky is falling" thread? One of the other 15,000 wasn't good enough?
