Q&A ACTOR GREG KINNEAR
Maybe this is a repost. I honestly don't know...
Q&A ACTOR GREG KINNEAR Jul 30, 2005, 7:33:17 PM TRAINING CAMP Q: Talk about watching Coach Vermeil today? KINNEAR: "It's an honor to play the guy. I've been watching tapes of him, of course back in 1976 when he was in Philadelphia. He's an incredibly spirited coach and to be able to play somebody who has that kind of heart about the game and passion, that's good. We all look for characters who care about things and he's a good one, so you guys be nice to him." Q: You won't have to put on any gray hair when you go back that far? KINNEAR: "That's right. These are hair extensions. I had to grow my hair out a little bit. Apparently in 1976, Coach's hair went a little further down the neck. I'll have to match his sideburns, so I'll have to do that, as well." Q: Tell us about the movie? KINNEAR: "Dick came to Philadelphia from California when Philadelphia was in a tough time. They're not particularly kind to newcomers. They were like, 'who is this guy?' He took some chances. He held and open tryout. He ended up taking on a bartender Vince Papale onto the team. Vince actually made it as one of the oldest players (rookies) in the NFL. A few years later they were in the Super Bowl." Q: Are you a good crier? KINNEAR: "You guys have seen a little something? I have seen a lot of those tapes. He's a pretty emotional guy. There's a little bit of that in the movie. I'll watch some clips of my Chicago Cubs play a few games and then I'll emotional and I'll go out and do it." Q: When do you start filming? KINNEAR: "We started filming last week. Mark Wahlberg is playing Vince Papale. It's for Disney. It's the guys who did "The Rookie" and "Miracle." They've done a lot of sports films, so it's that group. Hopefully it will turn out." |
