Ty Law signs with the Jets
Ty Law signs with the Jets
Well it's finally over. The Jets and Law have agreed to a contract, but it's not going to be finalized until Law passes a physical. |

I am glad we play them early. Hopefully it takes Law until December to get back to form.

I think Jason Whitlock just had a heart attack.

It said that the contract was heavily backloaded which means he probably won't see any of that money. Didn't he say that the Chiefs offered him the same kind of contract?

We may be done with the threads that track every time he takes a leak, but in about a month we'll get all the pissing and moaing if he makes a play against us. I'm glad he's finally signed, putting an end to the pipe dream.

That one player immediately turns one of our biggest weaknesses into a strength. Our secondary now looks like this:
RCB David Barrett (a very solid #2 CB, comes up big in big games, has no trouble with taller WR's such as Plax Burress) LCB Ty Law FS Erik Coleman (could be a Pro-Bowler this season in year 2, a ball-hawk) SS John McGraw or Oliver Celestin, whoever wins the battle in TC. Although he's injury-prone (mostly because he's a hard-hitter), I'm pulling for McGraw to claim the starting job. His specialty is covering pass-receiving TE's (see Antonio Gates in two contests versus us in 2004). I'm not expecting him to shut down TonyG, but holding him to a single TD would be a good day. Combine that with an excellent pass-rush from John Abraham and Shaun Ellis, as well as complex zone-blitzing devised by Donnie Henderson, and you've got one of the better defenses in the league. Week 1 should be very interesting --- good luck. |
