What's the tie breaker?
Can someone (if you're not too depressed) explain to me how Pitt beats us head to head if it is only between us for the final playoff spot:
6. Steelers 8 5 0 3-2 6-5 7. Chargers 8 5 0 3-1 6-3 8. Chiefs 8 5 0 3-2 7-3 Isn't conference record the first tie breaker after head to head? The Chiefs are 7-3 and the Steelers are 6-5. I think the Steelers win a three way between us and the Chargers, but if the Chargers are out, don't we win the head to head? Confused. |

You are correct. If it's just us and Pittsburgh, we'll beat them. With a three way tie you have to sort it out by division first, and SD has the tiebreaker on us right now, so that eliminates us for the time being. But we have the tiebreakers on Pittsburgh.
As bad as the game sucked, our playoff hopes were slightly dented but not badly damaged today. The big thing that happened today is now Pittsburgh can run the table and get in if we slip up. We are still the only team going for that last wild card spot that still controls it's own destiny. SD could run the table and lose out to Pittsburgh, Pitt could win out and still lose the spot to us, but if we win out, we're in. |
