Sans Peterson’s resignation, the ideal scenario for the Chiefs would be for Herm Edwards to pop loose from the Jets. Herm could retain Gunther Cunningham as defensive coordinator and promote offensive-line coach Mike Solari to offensive coordinator (figuring Saunders will land a head-coaching position somewhere). Let the Edwards affair begin. |

Wow good column for once from fatty....I liked this little nugget the most:
"But Vermeil, Dalton and Brian Waters tagged the 14-3 loss at Buffalo as the most inexcusable. The Bills finished the season 5-11 and going into that week-10 game had one of the league’s worst run defenses. “We had no business losing that game in Buffalo,” Vermeil said. He added that he could explain what caused the loss and the embarrassing offensive performance, but he said it would be a waste of time. Waters said the loss was caused by “disorganization” about what kind of team the Chiefs wanted to be offensively in the wake of Priest Holmes’ season-ending injury and Willie Roaf’s absence (pulled hamstring). “There was a little disagreement among some of the coaches, and that led to some of the frustration you saw in that game and on the sideline,” Waters said. The Chiefs were not committed to their Larry Johnson-led running game. It was his second week as a starter. Before Buffalo, Johnson had a nice game against the Raiders, carrying the ball 22 times for 107 yards. Against the Bills, Johnson finished with 132 yards in 27 carries, but only 11 of the carries and 32 yards came after halftime. More than that, the Chiefs turned to their passing game in most critical situations and in the red zone"

Id hate to dissappoint you Zach. I just got tired of his constant LJ character bashing. It was stupid and held no merit.

I enjoy pointing out the 12th "I can't believe I am agreeing with Whitlock for once on this one" comment people make. |

That sounds like an indictment of Al Saunders. |

Yeah, I don't know what to think about those Buffalo comments. I have a hard time saying you didn't run enough when you run it 27 times with your feature back. 11 carries in a half is not a small number.
I mean, it's obvious we did run it more, and we could run it more... but how far can we push LJ over a whole season? I think that's going to be an interesting question heading into next season. I honestly don't know the answer to that. Can we give him 35 touches a game over the course of a season? The NFL record for carries is 410, only 4 times has someone broken 400. Is LJ really that inhuman? Can we give him 500 touches? I'm not being sarcastic at all... these are the type of numbers he'd put up in 16 games if we use him like we did in the 2nd half. I don't know. I like the idea of giving your best player the ball, but nobody in the NFL has ever carried a load like that before. Even Jim Brown, considered maybe the most punishing runner ever, he broke 300 carries in a season just once. Actually, LJ had more carries this year than Priest Holmes has ever had in a season, even when he started all 16 games. Last edited by tk13; 01-02-2006 at 04:02 AM.. |

IM actually thinking someone like Rickey Williams would be nice, but hes been pretty impressive in Miami lately so they will probably keep him.
