Casey Printers signs with the Chiefs..

Casey Printers is headed to the NFL.

MOJO radio in Vancouver is reporting that Printers has signed a three-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Printers would not talk about financial terms of the deal.

Printers was the CFL MVP in 2004 when he threw for 5,088 yards with 35 touchdowns and only ten interceptions. He was also second on the team with 469 rushing yards and led the Lions with nine rushing touchdowns.

Despite struggling with shoulder and toe injuries in 2005 Printers managed to throw for 1,676 yards and nine touchdowns with six interceptions. He also ran for 336 yards on just 38 attempts for an average of 8.8 yards per carry to go along with two rushing touchdowns.
I'm a Canadian living up in Toronto, and I've watched this guy play the last few years on the B.C Lions. He's a great QB, and took B.C. to the finals agaisnt the Argos a few years ago. I was very surprised to hear the news, though as he was reportedly looking for a starting job in Miami and Detroit, and didn't want to sit on the bench. Obviously, he won't be starting here next year, but he must have been promised some kind of chance at the top spot after Green leaves (which should be after this year or the next). I guess he'll be our #2 QB next year, and he'd be definitely one of the best backups in the league.

He'll fit this offense great then, Trent Green probably holds onto the ball longer than any other QB in the NFL.

Casey Printers Joined the BC Lions in the CFL after he didn't get drafted by an NFL team.

In his first season, he sat on the bench as a backup all year, the Same year Dave Dickenson was signed to a big deal. Dave had made a name for himself playing with the Calgary Stampeders of the CFL, then spent a couple years with the San Diego Chargers.

At the end of that first year Dave Dickenson hurt his knee bad, Printers was pressed into action, but the team went out of the playoffs early.

The next year, Dave started the first 3 games, but Printers had to come in and finish each one. After the 3rd game, Dave went for knee surgery, and the Starting job was Casey's.

That's the year he threw over 5000 yards, 35td, 10int, and some great QB running yards for the CFL. At the end of the year, Dave Dickenson had recovered from his surgery, and though Casey had been voted MVP of the regular season, the Coach elected to start Dave in the championship game, which they lost.

The following year (Last year) Casey started the season injured, and Dave went on a tear, throwing for 75% completion and a 120 efficiency through 12 games. In game 13, while trying to tackle a player who had intercepted a pass of his, he ended up with a concussion.

Casey Printers finished the season, with the 3rd QB getting some minutes.

The Lions lost in the Western final to the eventual champ Eskimos with Ricky Ray at the helm.

Then he signed with you guys in his NFL Option year (If he doesn't sign an NFL contract, the Lions still own his rights)

He is extremely mobile and tough to tackle, but the biggest difference between the CFL and NFL (though there are many) is the skill of the defensive players and tackling.

He plays a lot like Michael Vick, turning a broken play into a 75 yard TD pass that no one saw coming.

He's extremely athletic, though I feel he may not be smart enough to lead an NFL offense yet, but this guy has the potential.

Yeah, that could be one of his main problems in the NFL, along with not probably not being able to out-run every single defensive back like he did in the CFL.

Lions quarterback Printers rebukes team, Buono
WebPosted Fri, 16 Dec 2005 16:51:27 EST
CBC Sports
B.C. Lions quarterback Casey Printers has publicly aired his frustrations over the 2005 CFL season and beyond, rebuking both the team and specifically head coach Wally Buono.

A story published Friday in the Vancouver Province discusses Printers' tirades earlier this week, during which the CFL's most outstanding player in 2004 slammed the organization for failing to diagnose his lingering shoulder injury this past season.

"I will not forget how I was treated this past year as far as people kicking me while I was down," Printers told the Province. "I won't forget how I was toyed with.

"That will always stick with me."

Printers has been working out with a number of NFL teams in the past few weeks.

A return to the Lions now may be controversial for Printers because of comments he made concerning the team's other star quarterback Dave Dickenson. He believes the Lions want him to start ahead of incumbent Dickenson in 2006.

"That's really (being) fickle to me," said Printers. "Obviously, people have changed their tune. They want me to be the starting quarterback."

For his part, Dickenson doesn't appreciate the notion of backing up Printers.

"I don't want to be anyone's second choice," Dickenson told the Province from Calgary.

Printers continued his criticism on Vancouver radio in an interview with Team 1040. He cited his displeasure with being benched in the 2004 Grey Cup and with being given little notice to start late last season when Dickenson sat out because of back spasms.

"Why wouldn't you receive a call from your coaches saying, 'Be ready?"' Printers told Team 1040. "That stuff really bothers me."

Despite his bitterness, Printers said he would consider returning to the Lions if offered a contract.

"I still want to be a B.C. Lion because of the city," said Printers. "I don't know where I'd be if people weren't coming up on a daily basis saying how 'we really respect and idolize you."'

Yeah, they brought in Dave Dickenson to be the QB after Printers' MVP season, pretty low by the management if you ask me.
