Yet another reason why Denver kicks our butt
They pawn their garbage off for two top-10 picks in the third and fourth rounds.
http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_4904768 Lelie trade produces third-, fourth-round picks Compensation taking shape By Bill Williamson Denver Post Staff Writer Article Last Updated: 12/26/2006 09:31:08 PM MST The Broncos' compensation for trading wide receiver Ashley Lelie will become official Sunday. They will get two draft picks from Washington for their part in the three-way deal in August that also included Atlanta. Denver will receive Washington's third-round pick in 2007 and a fourth-round pick from the Redskins in 2008. With the Redskins drafting anywhere from No. 3 to No. 10, the Broncos will reach their goal of getting a high third-round pick for Lelie. Denver was telling potential trading partners all summer it wanted the equivalent of a high third-rounder for Lelie, a former first-round pick. Now the Broncos will get two picks. The compensation is based on the draft value chart NFL teams use. The Broncos will finish anywhere from No. 18 to No. 27 in draft order - but could draft No. 31 or No. 32 if they advance to the Super Bowl. The Redskins (5-10) will draft high. So when the draft order is finalized after Sunday's conclusion of the regular season, it will become official that Denver receives the two picks from Washington. Denver sent Lelie, who was holding out, to Atlanta in the three-way trade. The Redskins got running back T.J. Duckett from Atlanta. Duckett has not been a big producer for the Redskins, playing in nine games this season and carrying 35 times for 136 yards and one touchdown. The extra third-round pick will give the Broncos ammunition if they want to trade up. It was a high third-round pick that Denver packaged to improve its draft position and select quarterback Jay Cutler in April. |

Now watch them trade up and draft Jarrett, to go along with Walker, Cutler, and their running game.

Man, I have been singing this tune for years now. The Chiefs cannot keep trading away our picks for aging players and giving them away for coaches. It is killing this team.
Both San Diego and Denver have been very good at creating a surplus of draft picks in recent years while the Chiefs have had a deficit nearly every year and it shows. |

Sandy Eggo, however, got their great picks two ways: Sucking for 5 years. Raping the Giants on the Manning deal. I agree re: trading picks/aging players/coaches. It also doesn't help that CP was apparently in a ****ing coma between 2000-2002. 3 years worth of drafts with nothing to show for it. Unless you count Sims, Dante and Wesley. We're paying for those drafts now. |

How the hell is a player who has averaged less than 2 catches and 29 yards a game worth a 3rd and 4th round draft pick? The guy has the worst stats of his career.

Carl and Herm have goals as well.. One and done, raise prices and keep the team around .500 so our desparate city will come out in full force and deposit all that money in Arrowhead each year. It is a sad reality of KC and the Chiefs. |

WTF does the Lelie compensation have to do with your obsession with Carl Peterson? The only thing you're accomplishing is a spot on the ChiefsPlanet ACT test. Hootie is to Damon Huard as Reerun_KC is to __________. |

Well lets see there Bob Hole genious... Nice to see that you are the only one here that can give shitty opnions.... The lelie compensation has everything to do with the fact the Peterson wouldnt take that risk and move a player. Actually would sign that player to a longer contract and we would be sitting here wondering wtf? Hootie is to Damon Huard as Reerun_KC is to your daddy... |
