Broncos Sign Graham

Per PFT

ESPN Radio apparently is reporting that the Broncos have signed tight end Daniel Graham to a contract including $10 million in guaranteed money.

It's no wonder that the OMane has been crashing all morning. I saw this too. Great pickup for the Broncos.

I would have to wait to see the actual contract details but $10 million dollars in guaranteed money for a backup TE seems a little exteme.

I wouldn't qualify Graham as a backup considering all the 2 TE sets that the Pats run. He's was a very important aspect of their offense every year he was there. He was one of their team captains, FWIW.

So is he going to start for the Broncos or will Scheffler?

I think the Broncos will run a lot more 2 TE sets now...Graham will add a dimension to the running game as well as a legitimate pass threat, if needed, and Scheffler will add the dimension of a pass-catching, offensive minded TE. In other words it will allow the offense to be less predictable.

It will also allow us to get rid of a couple of the "specialist" TE's on the team and free up some roster spots.

****ing Denver... Scheffler was going to be my darkhorse TE for fantasy football... It will be interesting though, Cutler is in love with scheffler on the field.. So if they do use the 2TE sets like us will it hurt or help the chiefs on coverage??? I mean one less WR to cover should help our run-support I think...

Bly just got us back to where we were before DW was murdered.
Graham solidifies the TE position, nothing more.
Running Back X will plug in and go.

I will not start sprouting any wood until Denver signs some DL talent.

I have a feeling that the Broncos will address RB through FA and DL through the draft. Considering our history with DL in the draft, that's a shaky proposition. DL is my one serious concern for 2007.

I heard Jarred Allen was seen having drinks with Shanny last weekend. Apparently they got shitfaced and Shanny stuck a 3 year incentive laden contract onto one of the steer horns on the front of Allen's ride. Then Shanny told him not to worry about his current obligation to KC since the Broncos are immune to contract rules, winked, and dissapeared in a puff of smoke. Allen was a little scared of Shanny's horns and tail but word on the street is he will be a Bronco next year.

The Browns DL move worked out better than you or anyone else expected.

What about the Bronco's history under Shanny would support your guess that all of a sudden Denver won't have a solid RB?

The questioning of the Denver RB situation is an annual ritual on Chief's forums...they never learn, for whatever reason.
