'07 Chiefs vs. '95 Chiefs
How do they compare? I'll allot 10 points to each position, so that 10 points is divided among the two players at that position. If both are equal, they both get 5 points. If one totally dominates the other, he gets all 10 points.
Marcus Allen vs. Larry Johnson 3 vs. 7 Kimble Anders vs. Kris Wilson 7 vs. 3 Steve Bono vs. Damon Huard 5 vs. 5 Lake Dawson vs. Eddie Kennison 3 vs. 7 Webster Slaughter (also Willie Davis) vs. Dwayne Bowe 5 vs. 5 at the moment, and hopefully Bowe will shine. Keith Cash vs. Tony Gonzalez 2 vs. 8 John Alt vs. Damion McIntosh 8 vs. 2 Dave Szott vs. Brian Waters 4 vs. 6 Tim Grunhard vs. Casey Wiegman 6 vs. 4 Will Shields vs. John Welbourn 9 vs. 1 Ricky Siglar vs. Kyle Turley 5 vs. 5 the kicker that shall go unamed vs. Justin Medlock Dear god, save us all. Um, 4 vs. 6 until we get proof Louis Aguiar vs. Dustin Colquitt 3 vs. 7 William White vs. Jarrad Page ????? 6 vs 4 at the moment Brian Washington vs. Bernard Pollard ????? 6 vs. 4 at the moment James Hasty vs. Ty Law 6 vs. 4 Dale Carter vs. Patrick Surtain 7 vs. 3 Anthony Davis vs. Derrick Johnson 2 vs. 8 Derrick Thomas vs. Donnie Edwards 8 vs. 2 Tracy Simien vs. Napoleon Harris 5 vs. 5 Vaughn Booker vs. Jared Allen 2 vs. 8 Neil Smith vs. Tamba Hali 7 vs. 3, though Hali is very good. Joe Phillips vs. Ron Edwards 7 vs. 3 Dan Saleaumua vs. Alphonso Boone 9 vs. 1 Returner - Tamarick Vanover vs. Eddie Drummond 8 vs. 2 Offense: 57 to 53. Primarily this difference is in the offensive line, but the Patriots have shown that a team with good skill players can win with a journeyman line. Look at our skill players compared to '95, and there's no comparison. Specialists: 15 to 15. This is a hard one to judge at the moment, and the modern guys have the advantage of not having the biggest goat in NFL history. Defense: 65 to 45. Big gap right now, but look at Hali, Pollard, Page, and Tank Tyler. We can close that gap quickly if those guys perform as expected and hoped. The '95 group's biggest advantage is DT over Edwards, but it's not like Edwards is a slouch, Neil Smith over Hali, but Smith was a perennial pro bowler at the time and Hali is going to be a very good player this year, and Saleaumua over Boone, but Tank is going to fill that gap to a great extent, since Tank is destined to become a Chiefs legend. Tony is a 10
I'll say the 95 team was better. |

I would hardly rate Marcus Allen as a 3. Greg Hill maybe, but not Marcus.

You have a severely tough ratings system.

Uhhh....people. He's allotting 10 points per position. 10 points TOTAL.
The sum of both players has to EQUAL 10. He's not saying LJ is a 7 or TonyG is a 8, but that LJ is 4 points higher than Marcus (7 to 3) and TOnyG is 6 points higher than Cash (8 to 2).

My point to this was originally that these two teams had somewhat similar structures. I was kind of wrong, because the 2007 offense is much better at the skill positions (about equal at QB), and is notably weaker on the line.
On defense, there's more of a pattern. Both teams have strong DEs, OLBs, and CBs. The 1995 team had a couple of strong tackles, though, which is beyond us at the moment. And of course, DT and Neil were both very strong at the time.

and the starting FB is already Kris "Big Foot" Wilson.
Though Anders is clearly a 7 or 8 to 3 or 2 over Boomer. |
