Vaughn McClure, of the Chicago Tribune, reports the Kansas City Chiefs have shown interest in restricted free-agent WR Rashied Davis (Bears).

I would imagine they'd bring Davis in to man return duties.
Though he's nothing to write home about in that role.

I'd rather give Webb a real shot at securing that job.

What has Webb shown? Only reason he is on the team is because he played with Herms son at SD State.

If we want a return specialist why not just get a young guy in the draft and hope he develops into a regular starter? Fresh legs!

I remember when we signed a great returnman last year... I'm ready for a young fresh guy. You know, since we are rebuilding and all... why not get a young guy to return kicks too?

If your special teams coaching sucks, no matter how good your return man is he is going to look like crap....

I'm not sure Priefer was the problem. I may be completely off base but it seemed like our coverage teams were much much better last year. That's just going off watching games and not the stats, so I could be way off base. But I don't remember being pissed off about kick coverage much at all last year while in years past, I was pissed off nearly every time we kicked the ball.

My biggest disappointment in special teams (aside from a good kicker) was the return game. Coverage seems to be more about scheme and preparation, whereas, the return game relies a lot on the man returning the kick, IMO.

Just out of curiosity who was the young guy that we had in camp/preseason games last year that appeared to have promise as a return guy but ended up being released before the regular season started? I wonder if he ever made another team's roster or practice squad?
