Don't Hesitate. Speculate.

So ... Fa-Va-Rah is going to be a Jetski. All well and good. In turn, however, the odds that Pennington will soon be a Chief have increased dramatically. Assuming for a moment that the Chadster joins our beloved team, what effect would this move have on Croyle and the team as a whole? Will Croyle sense additional pressure to perform and respond positively? Will he fold like an origami addict in a windstorm? Will LJ call for Chad to start? Will Herm admit that he is secretly in love with Pennington? Will Carl invite Chad to his office to peruse his engravings?

Please post your views on this matter in this awesome thread. 100 or so opinions will suffice.

It's a discussion board, Mr. the Talking Can. I'm discussionating.

I'm just wondering what effect, either negative or positive, the acquisition of Pennington might have on the team. I mean, bringing in a new quarterback is kind of a big deal. Especially one with game experience and a past relationship with the head coach. I don't think Hermoine will end the Croyle experiment. In fact, it might be the best thing for Croyle to feel some pressure. It might help his focus.

but you know what will happen, we all do...

the first time Croyle misses a start and Pennington plays, the media will start the controversy and Herm will start remembering the good old days, and Herm will think he sees an escape from the firing that awaits him in two years, and ta-da!! Pennington is now our starter....

after 15 YEARS of this CRAP...after 15 YEARS of playing washed up vet QBs only to go 8-8, 9-7 we're going to go right back!....

we'll win a couple of meaningless games with Pennington and finish 6-10 instead of 4-12...then next year we'll be 8-8, the year after we'll be 9-7...but we'll never get over the hump with a now 35 yr old QB with a vagina for an arm....

the True Fans are already salivating, Carl is sporting wood, and Herm is waking up at night after wierd erotic dreams involving Pennington and 99 play scoring drives on a whipped cream covered field...

all the pain of rebuilding, of developing a QB, will be magically waved away by the promise of yet another piece of shit vet QB...all to soothe the True Fans and Carl...all to remain Mediocre forever...FOREVER....

and you know I am right...

the only way to avoid this is to avoid Pennington completely

*edit*

i realize i'm hysterical about this, but my reaction is grounded in the facts of the pathetic history of carl and this franchise..

Truly sad how pathetic the Chiefs have become....

Hopefully Herm will be fired soon and we will have something to get excited about.

That is the 500 pound Rhonda Moss in the room, to be sure, Mr. the Talking Can. Some in the media (that KK numbskull comes to mind) are already calling Croyle a bust. As you say, all it will take is for Croyle to go down with an injury, his backup to win an ugly game, and the controversy will begin in earnest. Nevertheless, right now Croyle has the opportunity to demonstrate growth, development, and potential. If he does that, Herm may exhibit the patience he's always bragging about and stick with Croyle until he realizes that potential.

I'm in agreement that Pennington might be a mistake for that reason. Still, Croyle might respond to his signing by working just a little harder, focusing just a little more, and playing just a little better. That's the unknown.

Why? You think Huard is any better?

Croyle is herm's QB. It's too late to unhitch that wagon. He's got to give him this whole year and if he is still running for his life this year the chance to prove himself goes into next year also.

I agree on Croyle.

But if Croyle and Thigpen don't pan out I don't want Huard or Pennington either. I've seen enough of the latter two to think there's got to be a better direction to turn than them.

What happened to Tulsa's Paul Smith? I'd give him a chance before I would Pennington.

Dont hesitate
to speculate
on the fate
of Brodie's teamate
Just dont hate
he could be great
if Brodie deteriorates
he could validate
and insulate
and Carl could skate
fans may have to wait
another 30 years for a superbowl date

Pennington will join this team and Croyle will have a shorter leash because of it.

huh? I think it is this year only. I don't want another year of we have to wait to see what we have at QB. After this year, we will know.
