There were several opportunities where he had open targets.
The pressure often kept him from locating them, but WR's were getting open.

Time to throw is the key, folks. Even Oakland's WR's can get open if you give them 20 seconds a play. If Cassel ever gets the kind of time to throw that Trent Green had, he'll light up the NFL.

Bowe's currently the recipient of all the bracket coverage formerly given to Gonzalez. He's working hard for everything he's getting right now (9 for 96 yards and 2 TDs). I think more will open up for him if Wade continues to play well and the qbs continue to spread the ball around. Although part of the problem is blocking; just like QBs need time to throw, receivers generally need time to get open. I'm not sure how many deep balls we're going to see.

Exactly.
Wade and Bradley are going to have to continue to figure in prominently to create opportunities for him.

If you can keep getting 70 yards per game out of your #2 (as has been the case EACH of the last 2 weeks) he's got a shot.

I wonder. That's not something you can reliably determine unless you're at the game and I wasn't there. Most of us sitting at home simply don't get to see the angles well enough to judge that.

Well, sometimes they do. But you only get to see what effing Randy Cross or some other jackass prognosticator wants you to see.

And even then, its only on the bigger plays or when someone gets injured or something. You don't get to see the game develop the same way, on every single play.

I was at the game, and up high as well. I had a great view of the field:

I hate oakland, and believe they are an awful team. That's why it hurt even more to watch how pitiful it was to see their DB's draped all over our receivers. Especially when, after the game, I learned that Assmouthgape sat out for most of the second half.

The ONLY time I saw a WR wide open was when Cassel rolled out as the pocket collapsed, and then rolled back across the field. He chose a closer target rather than launch the deep ball. IMO, this was a missed opportunity, but the dude was running for his life at the time, so I will overlook it.

Bowe's TD was a PERFECTLY thrown ball, and for that matter, play in general. Bowe was wearing his CB like a jacket, and the ball was just far enough in front of Bowe to allow him to use his freakish size to dive and snag it.

Wade got his separation, and thus the ball, when the ball hit him RIGHT after he would take his route's cut. Obviously, this is the best time to have that happen. My point is that, a better WR would shake or beat his CB/LB on his initial steps, prior to making his second move or cut. If that happens, the second move should allow for oh, three or four yards of space? Then he gets the ball, and his YAC. From what I saw, this wasn't happening at all from anyone. Honestly.

Ryan is our best option at TE as far as passing goes. Thats not saying much.

Cox needs more focus.

If Charles is in that game, our screens and flat routes dramatically change the landscape of the game. They would have to have accounted for his speed and assigned a LB to him. It would have opened up some draws for LJ, or hell, i would have even liked to see a flea flicker develop. But God knows we don't have the speed at WR or the time with our OL.

Sorry for rambling, but my point is that yes. Our WR did not/do not get separation down field.
