Fujita isn’t shy about talking on the football field, either. A former Chiefs teammate swears that after sacking Favre, then the quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, to spark a Kansas City comeback, Fujita stood over the future Hall of Famer and yelled, “It starts now, bitch.”

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Fujita also coined the “Snow Patrol” nickname for him and fellow linebackers Scott Shanle and Mark Simoneau (currently on injured reserve), goofing on the notion that, in Fujita’s words, “75 percent of the white linebackers in this league play for the New Orleans Saints.”

Nice...

Gunther replaced Fujita with Kendrell Bell. And of course, Gunther answered any criticism of Bell with a challenge to meet him in his office for a fight to the finish.

Gunther is a tool.

Don't forget that 75% of this board thought that Fujita was a complete bust after leading the Chiefs in tackles for two straight years and was justifiably traded for a sixth round pick.

Really? Who gives a shit?

The guy has turned into a good player. Why does it matter what 75% of the board said about him? What matters is we had talent evaluators that were horrid and cast off any quality defensive talent we had in favor of high-priced busts.

Man, if I were a football player, I would be thrilled to be drafted by the Chiefs. You know that as soon as you are cut by this team, you will be picked up by another team that recognizes your talents and will wind up going to the Super Bowl.

They talk about paying your dues; in the NFL, it is being drafted by the Chiefs....

Funny how later when people are shown to be dead wrong about stuff they go, who gives a shit. But when you try to disagree with them now they act like they are geniouses and can't be wrong.

I think it is a prime example of how people around here need not be so certain they are correct and others are wrong when it is simply an opinion that cannot at the current time be proven but will over time show to be true or not.

I was indifferent about trading Fujita because I blindly thought that Gunther could really coah LBs.

I was wrong. But who gives a shit about the 75% that were wrong about him? I'm far more concerned that we've given away tons of good players over the years only to sign a high-priced bust replacement.

A lot of people have problems with guys who are solid role players. They think everyone has to be a Willis type LB. LBs don't get a lot of respect on this board. People didn't like Mitchell, Maslowski and some were happy when Donnie Edwards left town because "all of his tackles were 8 yards downfield".

This is pretty true. Fujita isn't the type of dude who would have turned the Chiefs around all by himself, but he has some real value obviously.
