Wireless router...grrrrr
All of a sudden, while I'm on the internet, my wireless router decides to become no longer detectable. I restarted my computer, as well as going in and unplugging the cable from the back of my router, waiting 10 seconds, and plugging it back in. I also went in and made sure my security key was correct.
Currently having to connect to an unsecure network. Please tell me I'm not going to have to re-install my router. |

Odd.
It's cool that you have an unsecure network to fall back on... If it works good enough cancel your internet service and just leech... |

Linksys?
Do you have a cable so you can plug into it?

Cable is plugged into it. Modem is built in to the wall. Cable from modem to router. I double checked my security key in my wireless router properties.
Are you suggesting plugging my laptop directly into the modem to make sure that's not the issue? I think I'll do that anyway. |

My internet indicator did light up when I had the router plugged in. When I clicked to "diagnose" the problem, it simply said to make sure the router was turned on or within range. It was, because it showed up on the list of available networks. I've had this router for years. Maybe it's time to invest in a new one. |

Sounds like it's time to buy a new one though.

Ding Ding Ding.... We have a winner. Don't be a tight ass and go buy a new wireless router. I try to replace mine every couple years (not only to keep up with technology) so that I don't have issues because of age or obsolescence of equipment. Nothings worse than trying to find firmware only to find out that they stopped supporting your model 5 years ago. |

If it's a laptop, does it have a WiFi switch?

Those things are evil and entirely uncalled for.
Can you see it in your available wireless selections? Is the internet connection down for maintenance or did someone hit a telephone pole down the road? Are the port lights blinking indicating activity? Throw us a damn bone Luv! |

Problem is, I don't know what the default was. My reset button is on the back of my router, and I have to get a pen to be able to push it.
