Your GM, HC and QB of choice next year

Its never to early to cash it in on the Chiefs season. Knowing Crennel isnt qualified to be a HC with his "7-11 why cover a TE defense" and we all know Cassel isnt the answer at QB. Who would you replace those two with?

So the purpose of this excercise is to see who you think would be a good QB/HC combo. The QB's have to be drafted and the HC has to be avialable next year to draft said QB.

Once we get 10 combos, we will create a poll. We will vote to see what two would be the best option to build this franchise around.

EDIT: by popular demand, who would you want to be the GM of your HC/QB combo.

Get ready, set, go!!!!!

GM/HC/QB combos
Eric DeCosta/Jon Gruden/Geno Smith
Eric DeCosta/Sean Peyton/Matt Barkley (Assuming Peyton gets fired)
Eric DeCosta/Josh McDaniels/Brian Hoyer
Eric DeCosta/Robert Chudzinski/Tyler Wilson
Eric DeCosta/Andy Reid/Tyler Wilson
Eric DeCosta/Mike Zimmer/Matt Barkley
Eric DeCosta/Vic Fangio/Geno Smith
Eric DeCosta/Mike McCoy/Geno Smith

He built a super bowl team in Oakland, then got fired. The team he built met the team he took over in the Super Bowl.

And he won.

That said - no head coach - NOT A SINGLE ONE - has ever won a super bowl with two different franchises.

Any chance there's a third Harbaugh floating around anywhere?

As much as I think Jesus F. Christ would be a great head coach, I'm just concerned if he'll throw the game if we play the Jets in the playoffs.

Geno Smith, dawg. Gru would turn Smith into an instant success. Those two could do some damage in the NFL.

The only way the Chiefs ever win a SB in the Hunt era is by gosh darn luck.

I totally agree with your point here. If Gru were to come in and talk about it, I imagine he would want full control over FO and bring in his own GM type guy to help. But if wishes was fishes. It's a very big IF.

The thing Gru brings is he has already taken one team, built it from mediocre to a contender and then jumped right over to another NFL team that was already well built and he won it all pronto. What this indicates to me is, Gru might indeed be a guy that is up to the task of winning it all with two different NFL teams. He's still a young guy by NFL coaching standards.

The Chiefs aren't quite ready to go, but there may be enough young talent on the lines to develop into a team worthy of contention. This team has skills positions handled imo, they just need a QB and better line play.

1. Gruden apparently loves his ESPN gig. He gets to use all the shitty cliches he wants and act like a dildo while getting paid far more money than any coaching job could offer. In a way, I don't blame him.

2. If there exists a coach who can win it all with two different teams, Gruden isn't that guy at all. He reminds me a lot of Ken Whisenhunt, who started coaching an Arizona team with several high draft pick players already present. He found a QB in a garbage pile one day, cleaned him up, and watched the QB resurrect his career (and the Cardinals) by throwing to the best 1-2 WR combo the league has seen since Carter and Moss.

Tell me that's any different than Gruden coming to the Raiders, finding a great West Coast offense QB on the garbage heap, and letting everything else happen. Sure, both Whisenhunt and Gruden worked hard and coached hard, but the teams they went to already had their systems and tools ready for them. They just had to be smart and track down a wiley veteran QB who could set those pieces in motion.

I hate to say it, but what if KC had drafted Aaron Rodgers in 2005 and sat him down while they squeezed the last bit of juice from Trent Green (no homo)? Herm ****ing Edwards would look like a brilliant coach right now, having had reasonable success reviving the NY Jets to become a playoff winner, and then residing over a Chiefs team with some good talent on defense and an actual franchise QB.

Let's not fire the coach until it becomes time to fire the coach. There's a direct correlation with teams showing patience at the HC position and having a successful franchise. How many times would the media have fired Tom Coughlin? The Steelers have had three head coaches since 1969. Teams need stability.

You know how to get stability?

First, get a GM that isn't a dipshit. Second, dont hire a HC that's nearly 70 years old.
