Alex Smith and Andy Reid Throwing Attempts Per Game

We all know that Andy Reid loves to throw the football around. I wanted to see how much he really does do this. Well over the life of his career in Philadelphia, the Eagles averaged around 556 attempts in the regular season. That comes out to around 34 times a game they pass. Every game they are chucking it 34 times.

I went and looked at Alex Smith's record when he attempted at least 34 or more passes per game. He has done that 16 times in the regular season and once in the playoff game against New Orleans.

His record in those 16 regular season games:
3-13

We all know he beat the Saints in the playoffs so he is 1-0 there.

His best season was the 2009 one under Jimmy Raye, yeah that Jimmy Raye, he won 2 games and lost 3. He was 1-2 with Harbaugh in the regular season attempted 34 or more passes per game.

So you're saying we could pick a QB at #1 in 2014? Is it next year yet?

Kind of comparing apples to oranges. Reid throws a lot because throwing a lot is in the philosophy. Smith throwing a lot was because they were down. Obviously throwing a lot because you're down vs throwing just because that's what you do is going to yield more losses.

Exactly this, OP is an idiot for not taking this into consideration. Especially when SF has been known to ride the run and D to wins over the last few years.

Andy Reid wants to throw the ball 34 times a game. That is what he does. When Alex Smith has been asked to do that, he has failed.

But keep your head in the sand thinking he will change.

If he's not bad why did Schefter say no team was willing to give up as much as KC did.

I mean he's pretty shitty

I'm still clinging to the hope that we don't officially know what we gave up.
