Not much out there more fun to drive IMO, and definitely not when you look at the price of comparable cars. I've got an '08 and I absolutely love it. You can save yourself a TON of money if you go used instead, if that's an option for you. I got mine about 2 years old with less than 6,000 miles on it, and got it for $24,000 less than the sticker, but obviously there's not gonna be a whole lot of these used Stingrays floating around for awhile. I wasn't a big fan of these when I first saw them, but they've slowly started to grow on me, but I've still yet to catch one in person, so not a whole lot to go on so far.
I say go for it if you can, you won't be disappointed. |

A good friend of mine would drive in to work daily with another dude he worked with and they always went in half on a $5 scratch lottery ticket, splitting any winnings. My friend was sick one day and his co-worker went ahead and bought a $5 lottery ticket that day and hit the $250,000 prize. (Getting roughly half of that after taxes for the win) He felt that this was probably his only chance to get a vette so he did in fact get a used one. My friend is, of course, still kicking himself for missing that day.

A few years back I bought a then new Shelby GT 500. I didn't look at it as a mid-life crises at all, but rather a reward for all my hard work now that I can afford to own a weekend car like that. Having said that, the thing flat out SCREAMS and is KICK ASS to drive! It's street legal, very dependable, has a kick ass stereo, A/C and will run 10's all day long at the track. Absolutely LOVE it! If a Vette's your thing, then by all means enjoy!
A word of advice though - the dealers will be asking $$$ THOUSANDS above sticker (Maybe even $10K as they were with SHELBY's back in '07). What you have going for you, that I didn't, is the Stingray is not going to be a limited production # car but it will be limited in terms of supply & demand initially. So, if you can possibly wait until the hype dies down a bit, you'll be better off price-wise. I had to wait two years before the dealers stopped the excessive gouging, but it was well worth the wait!

People work their whole lives to be able to put themselves in the position to afford something like this. It has nothing to do with having a "midlife crisis", its just most people can't afford one until they're in their midlife.

Actually it's the opposite. The base models for the C6's put out about 430 HP, whereas the new Stingray with the LT1 is closer to 460. The only thing is that there aren't any Z06 or ZR-1 type models out yet with the new Stingray release. So yeah, there are no 500+ and 600+ HP models out right now, but they should be coming next year. They did the same thing in 05 when the C6's came out, and then the first Z06's weren't until the next model year.
