How many TV's and what tech level in your home?
I'm curious what level television is typical in homes on CP. I have 3 TV's in my home, one 60" 1080p, one 50" 720p and one 32" 720p. The big TV is in my basement, the 50" is on our main floor and the small TV in master bedroom. I have 3 kids and we have tablets and laptops that also serve as screens for Netflix/YouTube.
I'm itching to get a new TV on the main floor, but our 7/8 year old 50" Panny keeps going strong. Hard to justify a new TV there, but the $800 Vizio 55" 4K is tempting. Compared to this 7 year old 720p, it would be a significant PQ upgrade. Do you need to have the latest tech with your televisions, or do you roll with what you have until it craps out? |

This is a terrible time to by a television if you have televisions that still work. Wait to see if 4k will even be a thing and wait for stuff like OLED to come down in price.
I bought two televisions in the past 18 months, but they didn't replace any others. Happy I got a plasma while they were still being made and the I got the bedroom TV for a good deal and it fits the hole that was there for it. |

this. HDCP 2.2 is required for 4k blu ray. all these cheap 4k tvs dont even have it. Not to mention HDR if you want the real deep colors. Factor in ATSC 3.0 is coming out in a few years... now is a pretty dumb time to buy a TV if you dont need one.

Just my wife and I, so we're pretty low key.
10 year old, 50" Pioneer Plasma in the basement, a 28" Panasonic 720p in the office, and a 250 pound, 36" Toshiba tube in the living room that rarely gets used. I really want something new as well - but the plasma just keeps on ticking. |

We have six TV's: Two 46" Sharp Aquos from about 2005-2006, which still look and sound excellent, a 47" Vizio LED from 2008 that looks and sounds great (although I've added a Vizio VS200 sound bar and a Yamaha sub for movies), two 42" Vizio LED's from 2012 that look great but definitely need sound bars because the sound is tiny and a 65" Sharp Aquos from 2013 that also has a Vizio VS 200 and Polk Audio sub.
I have a friend that's had the Sony 65 or 70" 4K since about October and the picture is amazing, especially for the NFL. But it's hard to justify spending money on a 4K since I'm happy with the Sharp 1080p, especially since no one else cares but me. |

55" 1080p LCD (2012) in the living room (primary TV)
32" 720p LCD (2013) in the bedroom (so the wife can watch shows when she goes to sleep) 32" 720p LCD (2015) in our workout room (because working out in silence sucks) 40" 720p LCD (2007) in our basement family room (used to be the primary TV, now barely ever used) |

Sharp Aquos 54" from about 7-8 years ago, a Haier 65" that I picked up about a year and a half ago on clearance at NFM for $499. I was skeptical about the quality but it has been a great day to day TV for the wife and the kids watching their shows kinda thing. Finally I have a 105" front projection set up with a Carada grey screen and an Optoma 1080p projector. Just got it all set up after our September move. I was getting all fired up to watch the game Sunday and realized I have to drag my rear out there and watch/freeze in person.

I am a veteran and broke as ****. So we live in a place that my fiance pays for. 3 bedroom and 1 bath. We have the biggest tv in our bedroom, which is a 42". Our living room and every other room, the other 3 rooms have 32" tvs with nteflix and hulu hooked up. By the way, I hate that my fiance's sister lives here. Uggggggh.
