My Fellow Chiefs Fans:

I felt the need to weigh in on the state of Chiefs Fan Relations in cyberspace and am submitting this essay for your consideration.

Cyberspace has created a unique opportunity for us Chiefs fanatics to maintain community in ways that non-KC-area fans could not before the word wide web. As with other modes of communication, cyberspace is in the public domain and deserves the highest consideration of the obligation of citizenship. This expression of our freedom as with all others is dependent upon the goodwill and mutual respect of the citizens who participate and unfortunately can be abused by the unneighborly and the irresponsible.

Our passion for all things Chiefs arouses deep and heartfelt opinions which we post here for all to read. There are and always will be disagreements about coaching decisions, players, rules of the game, etc… That is all part of being an NFL fan. There is also incumbent upon all of us as Americans a duty to preserve order, respect dissent, tolerate differences and express our manifold freedoms with reverence and brotherly regard.

I myself have been thoroughly abused on Chiefsplanet.com. My views are bombastic, intensely held and highly subjective. They cause people to wonder if I’m a Chiefs fan at all (that is if I do not tote the party line about the current regime). However, none of us deserves the type of pack mentality mob rule that eventually caused me to withdraw from that fan forum altogether.

I am responding this day of 24 May 2002 because it was brought to my attention that I am still discussed or mentioned on that BB regularly even though I have not posted there since December 2001. One of those threads was started by JD Prez and included an invite to post here. For that I am grateful.

Cyberspace, like the streets of our cities, is accessible to the disrespectful and the hateful. What is a Chiefs fan then to do? Let’s pledge to be responsible, respectful and patriotic in our cyber discourse with one another. Let’s not reward the vile and belligerent with attention. Let us remember above all else, that there is a living, breathing human being on the other end of each post. Let us strive to preserve our unity as citizens and brothers regardless of our passionate disagreements about football, which, in the final analysis, is mere entertainment.

Finally, let us remember that we are a nation at war. This is a time to put aside the petty and the self-aggrandizing, and unite for the common cause. As a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division, I have the privilege of wearing USA on my chest everyday. That is the one team we are all a part of and we will remain strong and undefeated as long as we commit to stand united, brave and faithful.

Damn that is pretty rough. That short guy chip on his shoulder is really effecting his ability to think rationally.

I don't believe they guy has the apptitude to rationalize things. Which explains the lack of any rational thought. He just wants someone to feel sorry for him and tell him its ok. With the military background you would assume he was mentally tougher then this. I wonder if he whines to his CO like he does around the Chiefs boards. For some reason I doubt it.

KCJ and JD are not even on the same planet. Proctor can be annoying, but the guy means well. With the exception of his spin tactics and his, "I'm a serviceman" rant, I have no problem with KCJ.

I dont get the whole "Everyone at the Planet is out to get me" stuff that JDPrez trys to sell everyone? When does these attacks happen? I've never seen shit on this board or his. Is this guy delusional or something? I see where he was threating people in emails. Isn't that illegal. I mean if I got a email and someone said they were going to put a bullet in my head I would probably pass that on to the F.B.I. This guy needs to seek professional help. Prozac is your friend JD.

John couldn't handle the anti Marty and Goonther bashing. When something is broke you fix it you don't put bandaids on it. I don't know why John feels he's not welcome on this board. The problem is entirely in his own mind. I'm sure the Mods and Admin would say he's welcome anytime.

See what a name like Proctor could have done to any one of us. I guess it could have been worse. His last name could have been Bravo or something.

I remember when he was a valued poster. Until the RBBC and GC thing came to fruition. He just went down in flames. Kind of a shame though. I was kinda surprized I was laughing when reading his line. But I don't miss it. It did get old.
