What are your top 3 possible Free agents you'd like to see the Chiefs sign?

I'm bored and got football fever. Since it's pretty likely free agency will begin in a few weeks go on record and list your top 3 guys you'd like to see the Chiefs sign.

1. Steve Smith (NYG)
2. Micheal Bush
3. Aubrayo Franklin

People say he's a contract player. In 2010, he was a contract player too. He was franchise tagged, so while he was earning the big bucks, he was still in the last year of his "contract."

And people forget that in 2010, he had an extended holdout. I'm sure for a fat Nose Tackle, nothing is worse than starting your season completely unconditioned. Between that and playing for an uninspiring coach like Singletary, I think there's plenty of reason to believe that he could play well in 2011 under Romeo, given better conditioning (assuming practice is allowed to continue soon).
If the guy is unmotivated and given to being in shitty shape, there's no way I would want him with a truncated offseason. He probably would need to be cut out of his house and brought to camp on a flatbed truck.

It's improving the current roster. Yes. But you're making an enormous leap of faith that the second round pick bolsters the future roster. ENORMOUS. In 5-8 years, Carr will still be in the league. But Asomugah will probably be on a rapid decline. Hell, could very easily happen in 2-3 years. Corners decline very quickly after 30.

So basically, 5 years from now, you're expecting that 2nd round pick to be better than Carr. That's probably not going to happen. So the Chiefs get much better the next 1-3 years, and likely get a lot worse in years 4-6. The Chiefs are not in the position to make that kind of a 1-3 "we have to win it now at all costs" commitment.

Quote:
how about what we could get for the draft pick?

A second rounder is a premium pick.

A move such as this improves the present and future of this team.
Why do people treat second rounders like they're lottery picks? A second rounder is a good pick. But...Carr is probably going to be in the league 5 years longer than Asomugah. So if that's the case, your question becomes... would you rather have Carr or a future second round pick for those 5 years? I'm gonna go with Carr. No doubt in my mind.

In 5 years, when Carr is shutting down Chiefs' receivers twice a season as a Raider, I'm sure we're going to be really happy we traded away our future for a short-term improvement and a second rounder.

Lance Moore, WR

Moore is the prototypical slot receiver … only he’s not used in the slot. Excels at finding space over the middle, exploiting gaps in zone defenses and creating mismatch problems. Extremely reliable hands, he’d be a great weapon for a rookie quarterback.

Carr's a baller. Awesomewah is better, but he's not twice as good, but he'd cost twice as much, and is twice is close to the end of his career. The 2nd rounder could bust.
Barring injury, Carr's gonna be ballin for the next 5-7, and the chemistry in our secondary is something you can't buy with Jerruh Jones $.

Do you think he's worth twice the money considering the talent in our secondary and the holes we need to fill elsewhere?

No, I never advocated signing Namdi. Infact I've said the opposite I don't put much value into the CB position. I was speaking in terms of talent Namdi > Carr. Period.

In case you completely missed the entire premise of the conversation, (and if so, why even open your mouth?) we would have to sign Namdi to a huge contract. There is no "speaking in terms of talent" because that's not what ANYBODY was speaking in terms of. Try and concentrate.

Post #156 talks about signing Namdi as a free agent.

Boss then brought up the trade the hypothetical trade.

And you followed that up with your "homer" post after we nixed the idea for reasons other than talent alone.

Boss, your boy is getting paid.

http://www.miamiherald.com/2011/07/2...emma-with.html

If the Dolphins decide that is too expensive, Soliai can take his guaranteed $12 million and become a free agent next year. And if the Dolphins franchise him again, they would have to pay him 120percent of this year’s $12.476 million, or nearly $15 million.

That would net Soliai a guaranteed $27 million over two seasons. He would be crazy to settle for less over the same span in a long-term deal.
