Moncrief is 6'3", 225 lbs., is just as fast, is a very good route runner and is only 20 years old. He also will block a dude into the ground. Yeah, I hate on Avery dropping passes. I also hate on passing on a guy with as much upside as any receiver in this past draft. And Moncrief's drops are more due to lapses in concentration than they are stone hands like what Avery has. But again, I don't think that has anything to do with Dorsey not valuing receivers. It means he's going to pick against his board. If the top of his board is a receiver, he would have taken one. I can't speak for the entire draft, but Gaines and Ford seem to be slotted correctly. It wouldn't surprise me if a WR was next in line for Dorsey if Ford wasn't taken.

Avery runs a 4.27, Moncrief runs a 4.4. He's just as fast? Huh?

He ran a 4.49 at the Combine. Moncrief ran a 4.40. So, for those of you who took note, Moncrief and Avery are not just as fast. Moncrief is faster. Quote:

'we passed on WR/TE options in every round ........' I absolutely think that reflects on Dorsey's priority and importance he puts on the position. Either that or Dorsey puts low importance on the teams immediate needs in favor of drafting for the future. He may think that they team will just have to make do now because a more sustainable product is derived from drafting for future needs because a player has a chance to learn from the guy he's replacing. Draft picks take a couple of years to develop so drafting for immediate needs is just chasing your tail in a losing battle. Fisher/Albert Commings/Lewis Ford/Hali Kush/Hudson (because Hudson is going to guard *speculation*) Gaines/Flowers/Smith Murray/Smith (let contract expire? lolololo had to post it )
