Things to consider upon last night's ending

Alright, that sh*t last night hurt. Bad. Five turnovers, often terrible play calls, and inability to execute left us all feeling like dogsh*t. But hear me out on a few takeaways here.

1. This ain't over between KC and Denver. With these two defenses playing top 5 level football right now, this has all the makings of a rivalry like the one Seattle and San Fran had a couple years ago. It even started getting a little chippy several times for once.

2. Sean Smith. This is good and bad, because it basically means we aren't in good position to watch him walk in FA next year, but the bottom line is he will be back. Marcus Peters looks like a #1 corner already through TWO games. Get Smith back, plug Gaines into the slot and all of the sudden a defense that already looks really solid becomes even better. It's what we need to close the gap.

3. Next time we play Denver, we are coming off of a bye. You can bet after this game KC is gonna come into their place wanting that one, and with Reid's track record with bye week's, I don't think we can feel beat already with that one whatsoever. Maybe by then Fisher will have his ass in gear and be able to block Von Miller just a tad, unlike Jah (who gave his best efforts)

In closing again I will say, last night sucked. It gets old with the way this team seems to get your hopes up just to pull the rug out at the end, no doubt. But greater teams have lost in bad ways before. (NE @ Arrowhead 2014....) I'm just saying. One game doesn't make or break a season no matter how bad we wanted to beat Denver or the fact that we should have. We were -4 in the turnover margin and still had a great shot at a win. That's a sign of a really, really good team.

Patrick Allen said it best:

It ain't over guys. Walk away from the ledge because whether you're down right now or not, if I had told you we would be -4 in turnovers there's not a person in the country who would have thought it to be this close. Denver is very good, particularly on defense, and these two are top 5 teams in the AFC. DON'T GIVE UP NOW, SEAN IS COMING!

THIS. I agree that comparing your team to competition is all relative. Flacco looked like dump on Sunday. Denver has some big money spent on defense. Can they even afford Von Miller next season and continue to pay the offense the way they have been?

Jamaal Charles fumbles twice, DAT fumbles once, Alex Smith throws two INT's. If even one of those event doesn't occur, the Chiefs win.

As mentioned in the thread starter, the Chiefs aren't going to give the ball away five times in a game. They'll be fine.

You can't throw an INT from your own 20 with 2:30 in the half while you're up 7 and looking to get the ball back after half. You also can't throw an INT in the red zone.. Just like you can't fumble the ball in the red zone or fumble on the last play of the game.

Difference is, Jamaal contributed a TD. Alex contributed a 7.4 QBR.

If half the turnovers don't happen, we win.

If Reid's nacho platter comes during a major decision in the game, and doesn't even make a decision we win.

If Sean Smith is plays, we win.

How much shit do we need to stack on the pile before we call it a pile of shit and move on?

If this failure was against any other team we would already be over it.

It's the kind of bullshit luck Denver needs to win. Happened in week 1 too.

The clock was already stopped. I had no issue with it.

The positives from last night:

1. Half of Denver's offense came against a guy who will be on the bench when our drunk cornerback returns.

2. Gary Kubiak stinks as a coach and Manning is about to get into a war with Elway and his little buddies.

3. No significant injuries, despite several late hits by Denver.

4. Jamaal might be more focused on hanging onto the ball after that debacle. Plus, he got over 20 carries (at 6 ypc), which means that he's being used.

5. The pass rush was pretty good early on, and will be great against most quarterbacks.

6. Denver's offense is nothing but Manning, and he'll be gone next year.
