My trip to NY

So I was extremely lucky and got to fly to NY for the games this past weekend. A family member does a lot of his job in NY and got tickets to every game and took me. Unbelievable experience. I thought I would share some of my pics and say a couple things.

Mets fan. LOL. New yorkers are ridiculous. Their accents and look on life is just hilarious. Most of the fans were really nice. Probably about 20% were absolute shitheads though. "BOOOOOOO GO BACK TO NEBRASKA GO METS GO"

NY is a cool city but you would have to pay me about a million a year to live there or its not even worth it. Living in a matchbox surrounded by a steel cage, trash, and psychos for 2k a year. No thanks.

Had a couple of really good meals though. Probably the best part about NY is the food. Ate at a jewish deli called Katz that was really bomb, and also ate at a steak house called Peter Lugers that was pretty damn good too.

Citi Field is a really nice stadium. Good views. Every mets fan was like "Yo you gawta geaux to ShakeShack out in the outfield its da best berga youll eva have!." I didn't waste my time. Line was about 2 hours long the entire game. The stadium is really vertical so even the spots up top get good seats because you're right on the action.

In game 3, early in the game, a mets player fouled off a pitch into the grass and it was rolled back to the Royals dugout where Jonny Gomes got the ball. I yelled his name and he threw it to me! ****ing BADASS!!! Official game ball of the 2015 world series!

What a ****ing awesome series for us! Best year possible! AL central champs, AL Champs, World Series Champs. Awesome!

I hope one day our chiefs put a season together like that

Spoiler!

When I was in NYC in 2012 I, too, went to Citi Field for a Mets game. Except it was a much more important game in May against the Phillies.

Loved the field and the city itself, but like you said... would have to make bank in order for me to live there. Too many people and horns for me. Great place for a 4-5 day trip though, undoubtedly.
Shake Shack is pretty damn good. I went to the one in Madison Square Park, waited 45 minutes for a cheeseburger. It was worth it. Glad you didn't waste time in a line at a World Series game to get a burger, however. Shake Shack is starting to expand pretty rapidly so you'll get a burger from a location sooner than later I am sure.

Glad you had a good experience! Thanks for sharing.

Shake Shack is the best fast food burger in America, IMO. I'm blessed because I can walk into the Philly location with essentially no line & get my burger in no time.

Glad you went to Peter Luger's - great steaks.

FYI: My apartment is quite large.
I stayed at 31st and Madison and then in Brooklyn 2 of the nights. There's trash everywhere. You live in the nicest area of NY. Of course there's no trash out front of your 10 million dollar apartment lol

Omg the noises. There is literally nowhere quiet in that city. Dump trucks, delivery trucks, car horns, drunk people yelling. I want to kill myself just thinking about it

Katz reubens on marble rye with the pickle are amazing. Some of the most beautiful woman on the east coast. The bike messengers flying through traffic on 10 speeds have to be on PCP to be that crazy fearless. And oh yes, the car horns. The never ending car horns.

Give me a quiet mountain town any day. Glad you had a good time!

You must be hanging out in some dump of a tourist trap area. Wherever you go in this world, it is about one thing and one thing only: Location, location, location.

Next time you make it this way, please let me know and I will gladly tell you where to go for a great experience. Just bring lots and lots of money or you may find yourself next to a drunk. Worse yet, if you choose to stay in a seedy hotel with paper-thin walls you will most likely hear all the things you described in your post...

Upper East Side of Manhattan take your pick:

Upper East Side Townhouses on a street-lined street:

One area that I happen to dislike the Upper West Side of Manhattan - Hate the brownstones. There is nothing clean looking about them.

Oh, okay. You were staying in a business district. Madison Avenue and E. 31 St block should be nice, however if you go two blocks west of Midtown Manhattan you are surrounded by commercial office buildings. People commute within the outer boroughs and tri-state area to work in Manhattan, dropping their candy wrappers on their way to and from work.

Good taste by choosing those names. "Belle"

Dane: I would love to live in Cali. Living bi-coastal would be ideal.
