It clearly exists in the same universe as the original ghostbusters yet completely ignores the fact that they were ever a thing. Couldn't there have been something of a joint re-boot/sequel? That would've been pretty interesting to me. It doesn't have to be a 'where are they now' episode focusing on Venkman and Spangler or anything, but if you're going to try to say that the movie is in some way paying homage to the classic, shouldn't there at least be some kind of through-put that's more than just ham-fisted cameos?

Would a reboot/sequel/passing the torch sort of thing have been more interesting? Maybe, maybe not. I do like the idea of that kind of movie. But that's not the movie they made. And the movie they made is good, so I'm down. |

While his early films, like Anchorman, 40 Year Old Virgin, Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Talledega Nights were uniquely funny and entertaining, pretty much everything else he's done, whether it's film or TV, has been well below average, IMO. Trainwreck, Anchor Man 2, 5 Year Engagement, This is 40, Bridesmaids and Get Him To The Greek were nothing short of blech for me. |

I'm a huge fan of the original film and I certainly don't feel that way. Nothing about this felt like a **** you to anyone at all to me.

I will give a mod all of my casino cash from now until eternity if they'll filter the word "cuck" and it's various forms.

Nah. That didn't even cross my mind until I saw you guys posting about it. I thought it was a great lowbrow joke. Appropriate to the tone of the film and maybe one of the best "crotch hit" jokes I've seen in a while.

As for the rest, spot on. This is 40 was as 'head up your own ass' a movie as I've ever seen. It's amazing that the same guy that made Sarah Marshall could generate that thing (Sarah Marshall holds up great to this day).

I'm working on a retooling of Entourage, where the boys go to the Caribbean for romance.
I'm calling it 'How Vinny Got His Groove Back.'
