IYO, Who was/is the best piano player you have heard?

Anthony Burger - Hands down!

Talent wise, there was nothing this guy couldn't play, in any style. Had severe burns on his hands as a toddler to grow up with the talent he had was truly remarkable.

So sad, he passed away too quick, here is a video for some of the younger crowd.

I'm not qualified to say who the "best" might be, but 2 of my favs are Harry Connick and Diana Krall.

I really am not good enough to play anythign all that well, especially bach but I love listening. I play mainly on steel strings not nylon, but classical can still sound good on steel strings IMO

here is paul gilbert shredding some bach on steel strings

WOW that is really nice to listen to! I'm not a big fan of modern jazz so this is what I prefer.

Thanks for posting!

Bet you will like this one also.

My Mother was a classically trained violinist but has a love for Jazz and Blues along with of course classical music. My love of music came from her though I got none of her talent. Dad was a lover of Big Band and Country Music so I am a mess I like old Country Western and Country swing.

A young Charlie Parker played in Jays band. The thing about Jay is he slips between Blues and Jazz so easy but thats kinda the Kansas City sound. I do love his style of piano playing.

That show blew me away. Never heard anyone so damned amazing in my young life. I vowed I would keep taking lessons. They faded away, but Grieg has always stuck with me.

The Grieg is a great Concerto, I used to play it for my kids and put it on a loop when they went to sleep.

I forgot to mention my Favorite rock artist who's catalog I have been going through for the last 5 years non-stop. Warren Zevon, before he was a solo act he was the pianist and band leader for the Everly Brothers. I think that is how he met Waddy Wachtel. Warren was using Coplandesque voices on his 1st album. He also met Igor Stravinsky and took a few lessons from Robert Craft who was his conductor.

Yep I have always sung praises for Zevon's music. He always called himself a piano fighter but he was quite good. Was a fan since my brother brought home his first album self titled. Lindsey Buckingham Stevie Nicks and the Beach Boys were on his first album. Of all the artists that have been undeservedly inducted into the Rock HOF they should get it right one time and induct him.

They both were session musicians together.

Actually studied under Igor Stravinsky as his protege I had herd till addiction took over him.
