I agree, I wanted to talk about this after the game. Mannign always was changing the play, he was in total control. I think if Elvis should be able to do this, if not he should be gone.

I thought last year, Grbac wasn't allowed to really audible because of the leash?? I would find it hard to believe the leash wouldn't be on to a degree this year either

Coogs,
I seem to remember Gun saying that those first six runs were JR's calls. You bring up a good question. What I want to know is how much audibling is included in this offensive scheme? Luz i have trouble believing that grbac is not capable of it... |

Hoover,
I agree that Grbac should be able to do this. If so, then he could change, or call, nearly everyplay from the line of scrimmage, a la Manning. This would allow our team to clear one of its biggest hurdles, the offensive stooge upstairs. |

Isn't the purpose of audiblizing to create mis-matches with receivers, run a play into the hole created by the blitz or to exploit a weakness that is seen by the QB?
Remember, personnel on the field might limit what can be done at the LOS. ------------------ bk |

Lazup,
I'm wondering the same thing. You would like to think the QB has the green light to override everyplay if he can see it is the wrong play called. Then we might actually have 3 timeouts at the end of the half - no wait a minute, that is Dan Williams fault. |

bkkcoh,
That is one of my complaints of the RBbC. However, these are suppose to be professional players, and all of them ought to be able to carry out any play. |

Elvis steps up to the line, looks over the field Tony Gonzales is going to be double covered, audible! T-rich up the gut for 3 yards and a cloud of dust.
Next play Elvis steps up to the line, looks over the field Tony Gonzales is going to be double covered, audible! T-rich up the gut for 3 yards and a cloud of dust. I've been saying for 2 years that one of Grbac's biggest weaknesses is his inability to improvise. For example, throwing the ball where the receiver is supposed to be, instead of where he actually is. Calling an audible, especially in a loud, unfriendly stadium is the ultimate in QB improvisation, IMO.
I personally wouldn't want Elvis calling audibles, even if they were part of the offense. ------------------ This is my signature!! There are many like it but this one is mine!! |

Bob Dole read somewhere that the Colts leave the huddle with 3 potential plays, then Manning decides at the LOS which will work best against the defense he sees.
Such a system allows for some flexibility, proper personnel, and still limits the QB's ability to do something stupid. Bob Dole doesn't know why Elvis couldn't handle a similar system. Perhaps because Martha Raye can't come up with one workable play most times...much less three. |

IMO, it's because his brain doesn't work fast enough. I think our delay of game penalties would skyrocket if KC used an Indy-like system of audibles.
