So, you’re the coach

Going against Buffalo for the divisional. You have made some offensive adjustments in the past two weeks that seem to be working. What offensive plays do you take out of the play book for this game?

Number one for me is anything long to Hardman or MVS.

Of course, those routes are a part of almost every passing play, the fact that they've been open just shows that defenses don't think they'll catch the ball anyway.

But you still have to throw that, or all 11 guys crowd the line of scrimmage.
How many "deep balls" did the Chiefs convert last season? I don't remember many. They had a lot of plays over 20 yards, but these weren't 50 yard bombs several times per game. It's not part of the offense since Tyreek left.

I'd rather have Toney on those deep balls than in the middle of the field. He has great speed.

Same exact plan as we used to beat the Dolphins. They know each other and share the same strengths and weaknesses.

VARSITY
Rice, James, and Watson are the WR snap leaders by a lot, in that order.

He always has been good at them in KC.

Absolutely, no Toney or Skyy. Give Watson the deep routes. Waste of time throwing them to MVS and Hardman.

And those carries should exclusively go to Pacheco.

Also a play the Chiefs should add back in their Red Zone playcalls is the jet sweep with Hardman.
Have you watched the last 7 games? If there are yards to get, CEH is getting them plus.

No more 3 and 1 or 4 and 1 reverses.... If its 3rd or 4th and 3 or less, the ball is going to Pacheko up the pipe.

They know it, we know it, and he will deliver.

What I WOULD try, given the weak red zone efficiency vs MIA and most of the season --- Once past the 50 yard line, I'd try a deep ball on 1st and 10 or 2nd and 5 or less. Several times. Try to bypass that red zone grind altogether.

Use Rice (probably covered) or Watson (more likely) or maybe even Toney. Whoever the third person who can best catch a rainbow pass is. Not MVS (he drops) nor Hardman (gives or can't track ball).

This is where we miss Reek so much, dude got open and when he didn't was still able to come up with the ball against dudes in ways that defied logic.

The problem with using Rice is his speed. A go route is not where he is going to be open. Most corners are faster than Rice in a straight line.

It is frustrating that our fastest guys don't track the ball well or catch the damn ball because the deep plays have been available and open all year and we get very few of them.

I would rather see Watson and Toney get those shots as they are almost as fast as MVS and catch better.

He’s not a better runner than Pacheco and MEHHH still averages like 2 YPC on first down runs.

It’s the playoffs… time to stop load managing Pacheco and replacing him with MEHHH other than on third downs where MEHHH is a better receiver out of the backfield.

I have a strong feeling the tush push has been in the play book for a few weeks now. Reid is waiting for the right situation to call it.
