While the Chiefs' identity may continue to be run-oriented, quarterback Elvis Grbac said more balance is necessary.

"We could have executed better in the running game in the first six plays of the Indianapolis game," Grbac said. "Looking back at it, (offensive coordinator) Jimmy Raye thinks he could have balanced it a little more -- he could have gone to the pass a little bit on first and second down.

DO you REALLY think so Jimmy??????
Do you think this means that we can expect a few more passing plays tomorrow? I won't hold my breath.

Raidahater,
There's more! Gun talks about how they practiced all the 4 and 5 WR sets in the preseason but it's kind of hard to run those sets with only 4 WR's on the roster!!

Here's an idea Gun, KEEP 5 wide-outs!

Real Good stuff in the article in the Star's Chiefs Page.

Do you think they let Rison go so that they wouldn't be able to open up the offense?

No,
But it is funny. BTW, I've learned not to think when it comes to the Chiefs - the coaches sure don't!

These quotes are just further evidence that the Chiefs coaching staff doesn't have a clue. If the Chiefs do any passing in the first series, it will probably be a playaction pass on the 1st play of the game, after which they will return to the ever present MoeRun offense. And Gun, exactly who the Hell decided to just keep 4 WRs on the roster? Richard Mann?

Here's more brilliance:

So what happened to the Chiefs' plans for multi-receiver sets, the shifting, the motion, the shotgun, and throwing the ball by choice instead of by necessity?

"I don't think the goals of what I want will ever end," Cunningham said. "But I think it's an evolution. When you have (only) four wide receivers on your roster, then you don't jump into four-wide sets all the time.

Well Gun, Then maybe, just maybe you should KEEP 5 Receivers!

Plwnty more read for yourselves www.kcstar.com/sports/chiefs

It's good stuff!

What do any of you really expect?? We have bad coaching all around and I'm would just say I'm happy to see more fans getting that prospective than blaming players. Our O has always put good if not great players in bad situtations. PRAYING FOR LD TO COME OUT OF RETIREMENT.

Didn't the first and last series against the Colts look alot like the first and last series against the Bears in last season's opener?

The more I read and hear, the more I'm convinced that Gun, and the stooges need to go.

I accepted smashmouth last year as we were unsure of our QB, we had a rookie HC, and our WR's left much to be desired. Smashmouth this year is unacceptable. We have the players to run a balanced O and there's no reason why we shouldn't.

Smashmouth is a dead end and will lead us no where. Clinging to it attempting to prove some form of machismo is a waste of talent and an insult to the fans.

Why pass when you can't run?

Keep running, show the world that you are inept.
