Neither.
I didn't have a low self-esteem issue where I felt like I had to beat everyone up. I was also too nice of a kid to do any harm upon any of the other kids. I certainly wasn't picked on either. I was well-respected by the other classmates for my grades and extra-curricular activities including excelling in football, golf, and baseball. Playing on team sports built a foundation of understanding for me, and knowing how to work with others whether you liked them or not.

Can't say that I was really picked on, there were 3 guys that tried for a bit in 7th grade, but after we fought things were cool between us.
Never really felt the urge to pick on anyone and tried to treat other people pretty well. In fact I can only think of one person in HS that I wanted to really kick his ass, but I knew I would just destroy him, so it wasn't worth it. |

I was a fat kid in grade school, and I got picked on a lot.
I still remember who my tormentors were, and one day I will track them down and slit their throats. |

I was neither.
I had some personal issues so I pretty much kept to myself. Later learned that people thought I was arrogant.

when i was in 7th grade i caught the bus down the street with some other kids some in HS some in JR high and the older HS kids used to pick on me.
But they didnt ride the bus home in the afternoon but there little brothers did. So there was this means ass dog right across from the bus stop, this old man kept him fenced in so i thought it would be funny to take the bookbags of the little brothers of the guys who picked on me and throw them over the fence. HAha tuff shit right? so one day i go to grab this one kids book bag and WAALA little ****er pulls a knife on me tells me hes gonna stab me. so i go to kick it outta his hand and it stabs him in the face.OOOOPPPPSSS. so hes screaming and cant pull the knife outta his chin and i freak and run home(my grandpa was standing at the end of his drive and wanted me to carry rock salt from the carport to the basement) the best part was when his mom came down to tell my parents she wanted them to pay for the Dr. bill my dad said "your son had the knife" and when she started crying he said "if all your gonna do is stand there and blubber you gotta leave"

I was 6'0" tall in the sixth grade about 200lbs. I use to pick on the kids until about the 4th grade and then I changed and wouldn't allow any bullying to take place in the locker room or recess anymore. If I saw someone being bullied I would kick the crap out of the bully.

When I was in 5th grade, there was a guy that sat right behind me. He used to make fun of my hairy neck and arms (I'm a hairy guy now, I was a hairy kid then). This went on for the whole school year. On the last day of school, this guy was picking on another kid. When I saw this, I blew up. I ran over to where they were on the playground and proceeded to take out a whole year's worth of frustration on the bully. I pushed him down, and then kicked the living shiat outa him. I guess I didn't like him picking on a kid that had the same b-day as me. The weird thing is, I never got into trouble for it. Nobody ever picked on me again, even in middle or high school. I guess I had a rep, which is funny, because I'm not a violent person.

Reason I quit is I use to pitch baseball. I threw the ball really fast. kids were scared to get in the batters box against me because I didn't have very good control. I soon figured out that if I hit one of the batters that it would scare the rest of their team and all I had to do was throw strikes. One day I broke a kids arm. I never bullied another kid after that day. On a positive note. I use to drive a clunker and it was always in the shop. The guy always treated me well. Gave me breaks on stuff and went out of his way for me. One day he asked me if I knew why he did theses things. I had no idea. I thought this was just the way he was. Turns out he was one of the kids that I stopped the other kids from bullying and he was grateful. Said it made a big difference in his life to not live in fear from the bullies.

There was one exception with a bully that was three grades ahead of me who always gave me a hard time. He was huge and I knew he would kick my butt if I took him on and he took full advantge of it. I built up a lot of resentment during that time period and never forgot it. Several years later, I ran into the guy at a bar one night. Much to my surprise, he started in like we were in grade school again wit his degrading putdowns. Ooops, the only thing bigger than me about him now was his mouth and as a bonus, I was three years into martial arts by that point in time. He was sitting on a bar stool running his mouth and I gave him one shot to close it, but he kept it up. He said "go ahead and take your best shot pussy." I took one step back and gave him a roundhouse kick to the head, and laid him out cold next to his bar stool. When he came to he called me outside (short bus) and I beat the living chit out of him. The dude looked like he got him by a train and never laid a hand on me. I never had any trouble with him again.

I was the kid everyone picked on in elementary thanks to my mom and her stupid rules. She said a man never fights, he walks away and that is what she expected me to do, if I got into a fight at school for any reason I could expect a beating when I got home (odd, violence was fine for her but not for me). Anyhow, I went to live with my dad when I was in the 6th grade. The one provision my mom made was she wanted me to attend the same school and not switch schools during the school year. Dad had different rules. He found out that a kid had been pushing around on me and he told me that I better not be starting any fights but I better not be walking away from any either. I cleaned house the rest of that year.
Around the time when I was a freshmen/sophmore I had a bit of trouble as well. Several of the Seniors would pack up and try to pick on me - 'course I was pretty small at the time - didn't really grow until my Sr year. Fast forward to the year I graduated. Was working for the owner of some apartments. He was having carports built. We were doing the gravel work while a contracting crew was putting the roof on the carports. One of the guys up on the roof was the ringleader back when I was in HS. I noticed shingles kept flying down around me throughout the day. Well, that afternoon they were sitting around their truck talking when I came out of an apartment and put my tools in the truck next to them. I walked up to the guy and shared a few choice words (at this time I am 6'1", 210 lbs and no fat, he's still 5'9" 170ish lbs, oh, and I wasn't a Christian yet either). As he looked up to me the look on his face was priceless and he just about wet himself. He worked for the rest of the week and was quite respectful.
