Congrats on the fish, wipers are tough fighters.
A couple of months ago my brother caught a ~5 pound wiper on one of those rinky dink Zebco combo rods, and had the fight of his life. I haven't caught anything that large this year, but there's plenty of time left. |

That's some of the best fishing right there. Atleast to me some of the best times I have had is walking the banks of some pond with an ultralight rod and reel. You even get a decent fight from a sunfish. But the best thing about it is, it teaches you how to keep a fish on the hook.

I can't believe some haven't heard wipers, called wipers. I don't even think I have heard someone call them hybrids, atleast not those fishing them.

Caught a 4 1/2 lb one several yrs ago. Put up a hell of a fight. When I got it in I thought at first I had a State record White Bass. You couldn't have slapped the smile off my face, then I realized it wasn't exactly a WB. Didn't even know they were in Table Rock Lake until that day. One hell of a fighting fish.
