HDTV assistance please
My dad has decided to make the jump to HD and is going big.
I would love some help finding him a few choices of 60" HDTVs around the $2000 and under range. Found a Sony Bravia at Sears for $1699 http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...000P?adCell=W3 the same TV at Newegg is $1999. Any opinions or other options you may know about would be appreciated. Also, is the one at sears a good option or should I have him wait until next week for the superbowl sales? |

Because this is what he wanted. Plus, we don't have any Costcos here.

If I'm not mistaken, LG got the Kuro Elite line of plasmas for themselves when Pioneer stopped making them. If that's the case, your dad probably bought one of the best PQ TVs out there.

I'll keep that in mind when I am ready to upgrade.

The DLP technology does have one advantage over LCDs in that it presents black much better (LCD blacks look more like a really, really dark gray). Its a goofy videophile thing. In projectors, DLP's are much preferred to LCDs. |

I don't know much about RCA's quality, but $299 is a good price for any 42" plasma.

Bought a Panasonic Plasma and never looked back. No regrets at all, I love that thing. The picture on my 46" Plasma has far better looking black levels and color than my Brother in Law's 50" Sony LCD.

I really like the LED's. I was at my mother in laws last week. She has a 55" LED. It looked really good. I want one now.

I have a Sharp Aquos 60" LED LCD. I love it. I think it was 1,900 when I got it right during the 3D craze, or the beginning of it. There was an issue with it and they replaced it. Problem was they didn't have any of my kind left so they replaced it with a version two higher(about 3,500). Lucky me. Anyway, the current one is awesome but so is the original. The only difference is the clouding. My current one has zero clouding anywhere.
