Kphobia,
I just posted this on another thread, but my thoughts are similar. I'll copy and past here... It is kind of ironic I think, that a man who stated when he took the job last year that he had been preparing for a head coaching job all his life, undermined the creditability of the people he needsed the most. His 3 stooges. Guns public berating of the 3 stooges performance the last few weeks is something that should have remained behind closed doors. It does not matter what any of us thinks about the stooges, but what the players think is paramount. Even this week, Gun said all 3 of the stooges brought in ideas for him to look at, and he threw all of the ideas out of the window. The players have to read and hear this also, and they have to wonder if their mentors are competent. Gun has, weather he wanted to or not, rendered his 3 stooges as worthless. There will be changes at the very least in these ranks. Gun has made sure of that. I also think he has shown his true leadership qualities during this stretch. There is a major breakdown of communication. that is what he is suppose to be in charge of. |

Gun is on a campaign to save his own worthless *** , point the finger all over the place instead of where it needs to go. Right into the mirror he is looking into. But, hey, seems to be working, didn't he get CP's vote of confidence last week after that Ryan Leaf led juggernaut roared thru us. This way he runs to Carl, and says, we have to get rid of the stooges, I am head coach, but they are the problem. Dumb *** Carl, probably falls for it, and we're stuck another year, at least.

I'm not sure Gunther had a choice of who his assistants would be. Anyone else find it funny that Kurt just completed his 15th year as an assistant in the NFL and is now fully vested in the benefit program? My bet is that Gunther (unfortunately) will be retained, but the entire staff will be gutted.

Were any of you all this mad at EG 2 years ago when after the MNF game with, I think Pitt, he started pointing fingers at his teammates? That is when I decided that I wanted him gone.

I wasn't really mad at him because he was right. But I did think it wasn't something he should have said to the press. But of course, he's gotten much better at saying the "right" or PC thing since that time.
Of course no one seemed to get mad at Gannon when he ripped into his Raider teammates and told them they weren't trying hard enough... |

I might agree if the coordinators had performed in the past as Gun has. Are you suggesting the stooges are NOT inept, or that Gun just shouldn't let on that they ever makie any mistakes? I think Gun's slip in grip on this team comes from giving these IDIOTS too much liberty. Gun HATED being F-ed with as a D-Coord. So he gave his Coords. a great deal of autonomy, expecting they'd act like adults. Instead they have all pi$$ed their pants with regularity. Gun's approach [affording a level of respect and autonomy] WOULD be the right one, with competent assistants. but with the Stooges, if he defends them, he's part of the problem. If he attacks them, he's a back-stabber. If walks the middle of the road with them, he's wishy-washy, or nuts. |

My thought is that this is the most frightening thing I have EVER read. Thank goodness no Head Coach in his right mind would retain these proven failures. xoxo~ gaz afraid, very afraid.<BR> |

My point is - If Gun is retained, how is he going to find coordinators willing to work for a finger pointer? Sure, if it's someone's only offer, they may take it. I want brilliant, innovative, up&coming coordinators. Those people are in high demand. If they have the opportunity to work with a head coach that fully supports them over Gun - which offer do you think they'll be accepting? We'll be stuck with bottom of the barrel assistants and we've already been that route.

Interesting possiblity now that I think about it. Especially knowing the history between CP and the Shottenheimers.
I don't see it as being totally inconceivable CP keeps Kurt. Who knows, the way it's going maybe Kurt will be our next HC! |

Anyone remember when KC had the assistants every team wanted? Guys like Cowher, Dungy, Edwards, Saunders, etc.? Can you imagine under any circumstance ANY team taking our coordinators? Gun would get a DC spot, but Raye? Who would hire this guy? Cinci? And take the chance he would pull Dillon to insert his "Big Tiger" or "Zebra" or "Dodo Bird" offensive package in the red zone? Stock? Please. Schottenheimer? Maybe as special teams coordinator. Even his brother knew this was all he was cut out to be. The point is NO NFL team would take these proven losers and to consider keeping even one is absurd.
