I think he needs to be discussed more because he is a very real possibility for us. I think we were very interested in him at the Oregon Pro day. Coach Gibbs was up there running some workouts with him and he impressed everyone in his LB drills from every team that worked him out.
Here's some video on him. I think his strengths and weaknesses fit our defense extremely well. He's good at: -Blitzing in the A gap. -Penetrating up the middle to stop RB's (really good at this in goal line situations). -Very good ball skills. Above average in coverage. -Speed to go sideline-to-sideline. -Good football IQ. He holds blocks well, but sometimes gets engulfed or neutralized at the point of attack, but in our defense he'll be free to roam with our 3 big DL (especially Poe in the middle) demanding attention. I think this is a LB with the size (6'3" 237 lbs), speed and smarts to help us in one of our biggest problems we've had in years: defending TE's. The more I learn about him the more I like him. I think he would be a beast in our defense. |
