Sleeping Yankee fan sues ESPN for $10 million
The Yankees fan caught sleeping against the Red Sox believes he was defamed. Does the name "Andrew Robert Rector" mean anything to you? Probably not unless you know him. Perhaps he's better known around the Internet as "sleeping Yankees fan," a man who just couldn't stay awake for an April game between the Yankees and Red Sox. There were some laughs and it was a nice Sunday evening chuckle -- heck, we even got in on the fun. There's one problem: Rector isn't laughing. Instead of taking it on the chin and moving on, he's headed to court, suing ESPN, the New York Yankees, and announcers Dan Shulman and John Kruk. He's asking for $10 million for defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress. According to details of the suit from Courthouse News, one of the prime allegations is that ESPN's announcers insinuated that: "Plaintiff is a fatty cow that need two seats at all time and represent symbol of failure." The video remains on YouTube, so we'll let you decide. http://www.sbnation.com/lookit/2014/...spn-10-million |
