Rod Smith to retire (from the KC Star Board) ...
I don't know if this is correct or not. I figured I would see if any of you had heard anything about this. According to what I heard on the radio just a minute ago, Rod Smith has told Mike Shanahan that if Jake Plummer is retained, he will retire.
Now, this was not some public statement that Smith supposedly made but something that he supposedly said privately to Shanahan in a team meeting that somehow made it back to Quentin Griffin's agent, who then let it slip in a conversation. According to this... Shannon Sharpe's final decision was that the team could not ever win the Super Bowl with Plummer at the helm and that Plummer was average at best. Plummer is not a favorite of his receivers because he is not very accurate and often leads them into the teeth of a defense. I don't know if this is true, but it was just brought up by one of the talking heads here in the ATL... Anyone else heard about this? |
