The consistently kicked ass on the ground, often featuring a two-headed back of frightening power and speed: Barber/Tapeh, Barber/Maroney, Maroney/Russell. And though Mason could never put together a defense that wasn't awful, at least Minnesota was competitive. That's no easy task at a recruiting wasteland where you play your games in an antiseptic dome so atmosphere-free that when Iowa won the Big Ten earlier this decade, Iowa fans tore down the goalposts and carried them out of the Metrodome. Whoever they hire next has a 10% chance of being as successful. In other news, the scramble for Minnesota's OL coach begins.... now! |
