What's the deal with Jared Allen's bar?
Does he actually own the damn thing or does it just have his name on it? If he owns it, I think that could have a substantial influence on these trade talks. Here's why:
I don't really think CP's serious about trading Jared. He's using the Vikings to show Jared how much he's really worth on the open market. I also don't think Jared really wants to leave. If he did he wouldn't have just opened an area business. This is all about money. When Jared sees the contract offer from the Vikes/Bucs one of 2 things will happen: A: He'll realize that EVERY team in the NFL is scared of his DWI's and see that the chiefs offer is the same as everybody else. or B: The Vikings may make him a good offer but the Chiefs can easily match it. The fact that Jared has roots in the area and a new business (that will not do well if he leaves) will make it an idiotic financial decision for him to leave. You don't just walk away from a business if you've put significant money into it and it's livelihood depends on you being around. In either case, unless he gets SUBSTANTIALLY more money from the Vikings it really won't be worth it for him. He has this KC fan base wrapped around his finger. That fan base can be worth a lot to him down the road. I say unless Carl gets a minimum of 3 first day picks it ain't happening. Last edited by B_Ambuehl; 04-19-2008 at 02:41 PM.. |
