Buck O'Neil as featured in Ken Burns "Baseball"
I've been aware of Ken Burns' "Baseball" for many years after seeing his epic documentary "Jazz" but hadn't seen a single 'inning'. I was surprised to receive the entire "Baseball" set for my birthday. I've just completed inning 7 (seventh of 9 episodes). Its a stunning documentary and in Burn's tradition, quite thorough. I've fallen in love with Buck O'Neil all over again. Burn's was so smart to feature his stories and commentaries. Buck O'Neil is a true American gem. Despite the dark history of baseball [and our Nation] he witnessed, Buck seems grateful to have had a front row seat to many of baseball's great moments. Many of his stories featured in the Ken Burns' documentary end with a smile that you can help but return. God bless Buck O'Neil.
