Chiefs almost traded Charles
Not recently, but once upon a time.
I just finished a radio spot on a Baltimore station to talk about tonight's Ravens-Chiefs game. One of the hosts was Vinny Cerrato, Washington's former general manager. He said that shortly after Scott Pioli and Todd Haley joined the Chiefs in 2009, he called and offered a fourth-round pick for Jamaal Charles. Charles was fourth in line at running back at the time behind Larry Johnson, Kolby Smith and even Dantrelle Savage. Cerrato said the Chiefs countered by asking for a third-round choice. Washington refused and trade talks died. But the Chiefs were that close to losing Charles. Submitted by Adam Teicher on August 19, 2011 - 8:49am. |
