His calipers show around 7mm so it’s about .30 cal. I’m thinking .30-30, or something similar.

I think he's right. Do they look like this?
Nevermind, that doesn't match your picture. But I think that's what I found in the range brass. So at least my question is answered. |

I know someone who might be able to help, his name is Dexter Jettster, the owner of Dex's Diner. He damn near lives there so if you bring a few of the mysterious bullets to his diner, he may be able to give you some info on them.

Dimensions for a .30-30. You’re going to need a better set of calipers. Case type Rimmed, bottlenecked Bullet diameter .308 in (7.8 mm) Neck diameter .330 in (8.4 mm) Shoulder diameter .401 in (10.2 mm) Base diameter .422 in (10.7 mm) Rim diameter .506 in (12.9 mm) Rim thickness .063 in (1.6 mm) Case length 2.039 in (51.8 mm) Primer type large rifle Not finding that outside of custom builds. There is this. 7×57mm Mauser http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7%C3%9757mm_Mauser Not sure about that one though. “Two 7×57 cartridges next to a 7.5×55/GP11 (mid), .308 Win and .223 Rem (far right)”

You may be on to something with the mauser. His son collected them, all he had when I saw the collection were 8mm mausers (turkish and german). He could have had a spanish or two at some point. Thanks.

Is the bullet ferrous? Try a magnet, see if it sticks.
