What is a Chief Fan's # 1 priority

I got off on a rant and was inspired to start this thread topic. I said then that I stand behind CP and Herm that we could be doing a lot worse than what they have done for us to date.

My question is what should be my #1 priority as a Chiefs fan, at least according to the negative nancy's of this BB.

Should it be the playoffs? How about the Superbowl?

I contend that a fan's #1 priority should be a winning record and here is why;

Simply put, look at the odds. The mindset that we should have a playoff or a superbowl bid as a main goal in a season is the same mindset that has led to the success of many a casino owner in Vegas. It's just not the odds you should be focused on.

Two 16 team conferences to two superbowl bids is to far against the odds to hold that as my #1 goal for my Chiefs. Period.

With six playoff bids for a 16 team conference the odds get better, but this is very close to 2/3 of the conference not making the playoffs, again, the odds. If you know more than 60% of the coin flips are going to me on a head to head match up, why would you bet against yourself?? And then complain that you didn't beat me?

If you agree with me, let me know. If you don't try and make a better argument for a different theory.

Every fan should expect at least one playoff win in 13 years

Every fan should expect his team to at least reach the playoffs more than once in 10 years.

Every fan should see it's team making progress in those 18 years, rather than watch that team stand virtually still.

Any fan that is remotely satisfied with that 18 years of futility, and remotely satisfied with the most recent example of that futility, is, at the very least, easily satisfied.

And if you think that any thoughts we have on the subject has any impact on the performance on the field, you are delusional.
Do you realize it's statistically impossible to expect any AFC team to win a Super Bowl every 18 years, regardless of organizational leadership?

3 playoff wins in 18 years or one in 13 years, is subjective and not relative to my point.

Reaching the playoffs every 10 years? Sounds good, is that my base line of comparison to being a fan?

In the last 18 years I have seen "my team" make progressions, fultile or not, and this year is no different.

I'm not easily satisfied, I'm just not as easily dissatisfied as some. This year likely ends with another playoff loss. But my role as a fan was first to enjoy the ride. I can check that box. I didn't expect a playoff berth at all this year.

The belief.

Going back to Marty's days this was a team that won when it never should have. I think we had a string of like 4 years where we beat the eventual SB champ in the regular season.

We never did win it all but we were never really that far away.

DV's 13-3 team was the same way. We didn't out score the Ravens or trick the Ravens we ****ing MAULED the Ravens on the ground, broke their will, and won how no one thought we could.

As fans no matter how sick, fed up, let down, or underdog we are we still believe.

Be angry, bitter, cynical, and even resentful. That's fine. You only truly lose when you quit fighting.

And if we lose our first playoff game all of us will still be back here the very next day to disagree about the start of free agency and the draft...

This team has met my every expectation for the year and then some, a playoff win would be the gravy on top.

Considering where we were last year, to not only make the playoffs but have our spot locked in by week 15 is ka-razy... i flatly refuse to be too upset no matter what the rest of the year brings.

2014? Bring. It. On.

The #1 priority should be to respond to a post in less than 7 years.

The number 1 priority should be to lose every game, each year until we draft a Quarterback.

Might as well run with it since this post has set in the archives for 7 years. But, my first two priorities in life are God and family. As a fan of the Chiefs, I'd appreciate if they could just win one playoff game this season. Yes, I realize our draft position last year. However, this coaching staff has shown that we're capable of looking pretty solid in all three phases of the game. They need to start game planning for the Colts right now. Screw the Charger game and treat it like the last preseason game of the year. I was barely old enough to buy alcohol the last time they won a playoff game with Montana. It's time for the Hunts to put up or shut up.
