So which of the movies that I haven't seen would you recommend the most?
Snatch, Taxi Driver, City of God, and Das Boot are the ones that are the most intriguing to me. I've intentionally avoided Silence of the Lambs and Aliens due to them being too intense. |

Alien is fantastic, you really have to see it. A Clockwork Orange is great. I've watched it several times and still pick up new stuff. Snatch is fun. Taxi Driver is great, I really like the soundtrack too. City of God, very good. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is a good one. Oldboy is great the first time. |

You're right, it really is good. I don't know of anyone who's seen it and not liked it, including my brainless action-flick friends.

I really like the Apartment. It might not be everyone's taste, though. |

If you've seen Manhunter, there's absolutely zero doubt where Anthony Hopkins got his inspiration for how he'd portray Hannibal. |

I would put City Of God into the intense category even more so than the others because it's based on a true story.

As for the Star Wars discussion I saw the first one on its original release in the 70's when I was in high school and swore I'd never see another and haven't.

Taxi Driver (Scorcese's best IMO), the Miyazaki films on that list (Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke are both incredible), A Clockwork Orange (so unique, Kubrick in the prime of his career...though, a warning, it is more intense than Silence of the Lambs and Aliens), Oldboy (definitely watch it over Spike Lee's remake, it's another one heavy on violence, though).
