Borland was a stud his junior year. Stud this past season.
I'd be really tempted to start pushing for him if it wasn't for the drafting of Nico Johnson, who I really like as well. I wouldn't mind seeing Borland next to DJ though... |

The 6-foot-2, 243-pound Ford projects best as an edge rusher in a 3-4 defense. He played defensive end in college, but he doesn't have the size to do that in the NFL. In a 4-3 defense, Ford would have to play as a linebacker who rushes off the edge in passing situations, similar to Von Miller in Denver. Adding in this Senior Bowl performance, Ford should be an early-round pick. |

There will be plenty of good players who can contribute from day 1 available at pick 23.

Would be more inclined to look at prospects who would be available around our first pick and 3rd round pick since we don't have a second.

If you do a Big Board, we could then cross off the guys who will reasonably be off the board during the pick and get an idea for who you think the pick will be. I mentioned in a different thread i started, but for me, a lot of the fun is trying to guess who the new Chiefs will be, as much as who they should be. Looking at smart people's BB's will help us get an idea or narrow it down.

Glaring weaknesses this off-season? WR beyond Bowe, Secondary, Interior pass rush, and then TE (though they seem to be betting on Kelce to come back in full health). |

I still think there are more immediate issues (secondary, dline, and receiver) but I still hope they grab a TE somewhere |

1. WR - If McCluster chooses the free agent market, they are going to need a new guy for return duties as well as the slot. Odell Beckham or Brandin Cooks will be very tempting at the #23 spot, though there are a number of other guys who could fill this role that will be available with their third round pick and on. Avery has VERY questionable hands at this point. Jenkins is an unknown. Hemmingway is a special teams ace who doesn't have the speed or quickness to be effective as anything other than depth on offense. And Bowe, outside of the playoff game against the Colts, was mediocre at best. It is a huge area of concern at this point. 2. FS - Kendrick Lewis showed promise as a rookie, but has significantly digressed from that point. It may be the reoccurring injury to his shoulder that has affected his game, but whatever it is, he was flat out torched multiple times this past season. He's also a free agent, as is Demps and Abdullah. That's three guys who could be gone, leaving the Chiefs with only Sanders Commings, an unproven and untested guy who will effectively be entering his rookie year in 2014 who is still listed as a cornerback on the Chiefs roster. The safety position needs to be addressed immediately. Unfortunately, this is a draft where there are no real standout players and a real lack of depth at the position and it looks like the team will have to deal with it in free agency. Fortunately, the safety class of 2010 is up for free agency and there are a number of very good players that will be available, such as the Packers Morgan Burnett, the Bears' Major Wright and the Eagles' Nate Allen among others. 3. Offensive Line - Brandon Albert, Jon Asamoah and Jeff Schwartz are free agents. Albert is coming off of what I consider his best season as a pro (and one where he played under the franchise tag), but he wants top 3 LT money and he's simply not that good. Good at this point, but not great. They tried to trade him before the 2013 season and didn't get much interest, especially when Albert's contract demands were voiced. Asamoah has never gone beyond what he offered as a rookie and is just a guy at this point. There was a noticeable improvement in the lines play when Schwartz was inserted into Asamoah's RG position. And speaking of Schwartz, there are rumors that both he and the Chiefs want to work out an amicable deal, though until the paper is signed, it's just hearsay. As well, LG Jeff Allen was consistently the weakest link on the unit. He looked out of shape (most likely tried to put on quick weight in an effort to be more effective in the phone booth) and didn't handle defensive stunts and offensive line pulls and traps very well. I would expect that both Albert and Asamoah will be allowed to test the open market, which means that the Chiefs will need depth at tackle and the interior line with a real possibility of needing a new starter at the LG spot. If they decided to go OL with their #23 pick, there will be some very good NFL OG prospects available such as Mississippi State's Gabe Jackson, Alabama's Cyrus Kouandjio, Stanford's David Yankey, Baylor's Cyril Richardson or UCLA's Xavier Su'a-Filo. |

If he wasn't going to amount to anything, he wouldn't be where he is right now. In what was his rookie season, with only the single year at as a Reddie of Henderson, a DII team, he showed the ability to be able to get open against NFL starting safeties and linebackers. He caught the ball well, showed the ability to turn upfield immediately for additional yards and made tough catches. He's got a lot more growth. His arrow is most definitely pointing up and I seriously doubt he's even close to reaching his potential. The guy has beat the odds for a reason. And I believe he's got a lot of growth left in his game. I think he's got a chance to be a pretty damn good player. |

Were your perceptions on glaring weaknesses ranked in order of importance? If so, and I only ask because so many of us assholes throw our two cents in anyways, but I'd love to see your rankings of the players as you seem to have a firm grasp on this year's class. With that list, we can make assumptions on who will be available and who we should pick. Basically what I'm asking, is who do you think we pick and why?
