KISS cancels their performance at Rock N Roll HOF induction over lineup dispute
While they've been members of rock n' roll royalty for decades now, KISS will not be performing at their official inauguration: at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
The decision to remain soundless that day results from a inner-band dispute over the original and newer band members. Former lead guitarist Ace Frehley broke the news to the late-night disc jockeys on Q104.3's Eddie Trunk Rocks of the line-up in an effort to prevent fans from purchasing tickets to the event hopeful they may witness the original band perform, Blabbermouth reported. The last time I was on [this radio show], it was a very exciting and happy call. And the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame was very excited about having the four original members who are being inducted to perform at the ceremony. And that was shot down by Paul and Gene,' Frehley explained to Q104.3 on Friday. "I'm not gonna get on the stage with Tommy wearing my makeup. That's absurd," Frehley elaborated during the call, asserting Stanley and Simmons were the ones who did not want to perform with the original line-up. In a statement posted on his website, former percussionist Peter Criss revealed to fans that both he and Frehley were not offered a performance alongside Simmons and Stanley . 'I wanted to make sure that fans understood that no original performance, in or out of makeup, has been offered to us,' Criss elaborated in his official statement. This is disgraceful and I feel bad for the fans who were looking forward to the four of us being inducted together,' the percussionist finished. In stark contrast to these claims the band's official website released their own statement to share their side of the story. 'Although KISS has moved forward far longer without them, Ace and Peter are at the very foundation of what we have built and this would all be impossible had they not been a part of it in the beginning,' the statement read. The statement asserts they never denied a performance with two of the band's original members. 'Contrary to claims made through the media we have never refused to play with Ace and Peter,' the statement firmly delivered. 'To bring this to a quick end, we have decided not to play in any line-up and we will focus our attention on celebrating our induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.' Womanizing Gene Simmons spoke with Rolling Stone this past December and parlayed his thoughts on the situation in the best way he knew how: with a metaphor on women. 'It's like, if you introduced me to your wife and I go, "Wait, where are all the other wives?" It's like, "Yeah, I was married to them and now I'm here,"' the bassist comically explained. The 29th annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will take place at the Barclay's Center in New York City on April 10. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...e-dispute.html |

Anyway, if one would read anything about this, they would see Gene and Paul aren't trying to exclude Ace and Peter. They're no longer in the band in the first place because they were/are junkies and Criss is just a shitty drummer. |

the only reason they get so much run is because of the freakshow they used to be. that doesn't make them HOF worthy. Hell, GWAR is a huge freakshow.
though, the rock and roll HOF has become a joke anyway.

I didn't think they were very good either, but since they went on first they didn't have use of the full stage which I think limited their show a bit. Peter Criss was with them but not Ace. I remember Criss hitting the drums so softly that I was surprised it was even generating a sound. |

Gene is a shitty singer and what does Paul do besides be an asshole? Nobody in the band is faultless but only 2 of the members have a consistent, multi-decade history of being assholes to pretty much everybody, inside or outside of the band. |

They've never been a favorite of mine, but I like some of the 70s stuff and they put on a good show. Its a bit cartoony, but explosions are always nice. And yeah, Gene and Paul (especially Gene) I think have earned their a-hole reputations.
