Things to consider upon last night's ending
Alright, that sh*t last night hurt. Bad. Five turnovers, often terrible play calls, and inability to execute left us all feeling like dogsh*t. But hear me out on a few takeaways here.
1. This ain't over between KC and Denver. With these two defenses playing top 5 level football right now, this has all the makings of a rivalry like the one Seattle and San Fran had a couple years ago. It even started getting a little chippy several times for once. 2. Sean Smith. This is good and bad, because it basically means we aren't in good position to watch him walk in FA next year, but the bottom line is he will be back. Marcus Peters looks like a #1 corner already through TWO games. Get Smith back, plug Gaines into the slot and all of the sudden a defense that already looks really solid becomes even better. It's what we need to close the gap. 3. Next time we play Denver, we are coming off of a bye. You can bet after this game KC is gonna come into their place wanting that one, and with Reid's track record with bye week's, I don't think we can feel beat already with that one whatsoever. Maybe by then Fisher will have his ass in gear and be able to block Von Miller just a tad, unlike Jah (who gave his best efforts) In closing again I will say, last night sucked. It gets old with the way this team seems to get your hopes up just to pull the rug out at the end, no doubt. But greater teams have lost in bad ways before. (NE @ Arrowhead 2014....) I'm just saying. One game doesn't make or break a season no matter how bad we wanted to beat Denver or the fact that we should have. We were -4 in the turnover margin and still had a great shot at a win. That's a sign of a really, really good team. Patrick Allen said it best: It ain't over guys. Walk away from the ledge because whether you're down right now or not, if I had told you we would be -4 in turnovers there's not a person in the country who would have thought it to be this close. Denver is very good, particularly on defense, and these two are top 5 teams in the AFC. DON'T GIVE UP NOW, SEAN IS COMING! |

I think we will beat them in Denver. Peyton is going take some more beatings before we play them again.

But.. We're still healthy. Our defense is monstrous. The run defense last night was ****ing incredible. Jaye Howard is a load, DJ being back is invaluable, Houston is the best pass rusher in the league, Peters has the opportunity to be a top 3 CB by season's end, and role players like Mauga, Devito, and Abdullah are really stepping up. Our offensive line is young, but capable and primed to get better. Maclin, Kelce and Jamaal are every bit as good as advertised. There are reasons to be optimistic... |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() They cannot hang with anyone. They couldn't even beat a mediocre bronco's team where Manning wasn't even calling the shots. Smith had 191 yards last night. In the first half, he only had 51. 51 passing yards in a half. Completely, totally, unforgivably pathetic. There was so much more wrong with the game, but that stat alone should tell you that this team can definitely not hang with anyone. At least, like last year, I know I don't have to waste my Sundays watching this shit show. |

I was really surprised at his production. He and Kelce make for a excellent pair of young TE's

I was optimistic going into this season and last night humbled the sh*t out of me.
No offense to the thread starter and I appreciate your efforts for this thread and trying to keep our heads up high, but, this choking sh*t keeps repeating itself over and over. Negativity rots within the whole organization, the fanbase, everywhere. The manifestation and spread of it is unreal. I personally think when that type of energy is exerted in the universe it attracts bad things. That's how this universe ****ing works. Yes, I do believe in the law of attraction in how like attracts like. That perhaps can somewhat justify an explanation as to how this team is so called "cursed?" There just seems to be a lack of belief between the players, coaches and organization as a whole. I can smell it. |

It did hurt but I'm satisfied with the effort except for one thing. It isn't that Sean Smith wasn't there, but that clearly hurt the team as any suspension does. Can't blame those on the organization. I don't expect perfect play calling and even perfect play or perfect coaching. However, there is one thing about divisional play, with Denver specifically, that KC coaches of all regimes persistently do not prepare for. One of the great things I like about the Marty era was his teams ability to strip the ball. So many times I would say to myself with the game on the line...time for the strip and bingo, there it was. Denver is noticeably more physical against the Chiefs than I've witnessed in virtually all other games. You see this in the way they attack and tackle on every play. Its as if you discover yourself praying there won't be fumble on each play, or simply waiting until there is one...and bingo, there it is. Now I know that coaches preach ball security all the time...but I don't think they convey to the team how Denver uses this strategy, repeatedly, to specifically drain the heart out of our team, more than they do to anybody else. It has become the 'Chiefs' plan for that organization. It goes way, way back. Marty had a Raider plan, the Jets a Miami plan...etc.
This team is a good one and I'm not going to complain. It's the best team we've had in 40 years. Denver played tough but we beat ourselves and the players know it. I still expect this team to win 11 ball games and win in the playoffs. But it still hurts. There is no excuse for a penalty deep in your own territory that gives the opposition 8 chances to get in. Third down penalties are game changers. |

I'd kind of like to go back and look at every timeout the Chiefs have called over the last couple of seasons. It seems like every time they call a time out, something really bad happens to them on the next play. Whatever they do during time outs, they should do the opposite.

Manning will be 15-1 vs. KC this season. It would not matter if KC had two byes after a Thursday night game to prepare. Manning beats KC. It is what he does.

You know Denver held Flacco to 38 yards in the first half, and 117 with two picks throughout the whole game? And that is behind a top 5 offensive line.

It's funny how people underplay the significance of a fumble yet just want to castrate our QB for an INT behind that awful line.
QB's are expected to throw an INT from time to time. |
